DUBOIS

“This enlightenment concept is Formulated in the guidelines of the “Talented Ten” in that the elite educated few will guide the race forward. Unlike Garvey, he was not interested in the building a fast movement. Dubois placed more emphasis on the intellectual course. Focusing on the Elite educated few merges both knowledge and power of people. He advocated that educated few will guide the nation forward. That we need to nationalize organized forces for blacks. Unlike his major rivals in the United State, he built a mass organization that went beyond merck empowerment. Dubois was writing and talking in a disturbing period in American history when lynching increased as terrorism from whites. Realized that narrow would not satisfy the depiction of what was not going to be needed for our liberation.
“Dubois understood that knowledge is not just about learning that it could have power and could draw power. Education is not just about gaining a skill and they built this institution because knowledge is about power. Dubois asserts racism is backed up by the power of institution. He felt that if the problem education is not combated and debated that the institutional power would never go anywhere. The NAACP was able to chip away at segregation of education at elite institutions. Dubois is saying in the early 1900’s we see a rise in theory of Scientific Racism that suggests that blacks are inferior.
Dubois despised lynching attacks on black identity and vehemently asserted that we can’t stop fighting in this particular climate. The NAACP and the Crisis Magazine were his devices for communicating to the public Intellectuals of the black Community. Dubois writes his most famous books “The Souls of Black Folk.”
“The Souls of Black Folks is a public dialogue book written in spite of lynching. It is the best common political basis to for a noble institutional. Dubois died in Africa.
He is quite optimistic. The Souls of Black Folk is his number one most significant work. It has both a literary message and political message. He asserts that Blacks must establish an economical place in society and a place in history. That we are ridiculed and stereo typed into being powerfully distorted. His views at this period contradicted his views in The Philadelphia Negro were he heavily arms the narrow enlightenment perspective. He proclaimed to be more humanistic of the Black experience and suggested that his accomplishments can be compared to that of a tuning fork.
