The Garden
The definition of garden means a protected and cultivated place.
The Garden is a powerful metaphor of what our hearts are in the natural and what we become in the supernatural after we have the knowledge that God imparts through our relationship with Him.
The dimension we live in before we come to know Him is the natural realm and we are tied to the things of this world and the pride of life. The cares of the world destroy the natural man’s life by the works of the flesh, as described in His word. The natural man can look good on the outside but looking on the inside the destruction is self evident in most of our lives if we have the courage to be honest before a loving God. Nothing good dwells in the flesh. God says this about the heart:
Matthew 15:18,19 (ESV) “But what comes out of the mouth proceeds from the heart, and this defiles a person. It is out of the heart that evil thoughts come, as well as murder, adultery, sexual immorality, stealing, false testimony, and slander”.
Hebrews 6:8 (ESV) “but if it bears thorns and thistles it is worthless and near to being cursed, and its end is to be burned.”
In the new garden in Christ, the new dimension we are to abide in is called grace. This dimension is cultivated by God Himself. He grows the fruit of the spirit by teaching His children to abide in Christ Jesus. God cultivates and builds His truths in our life through the relationship we have with Him and He is glorified.
John 15:5 (NLT) “Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing. ”
Galatians 5:22,23 (NIV) “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.”
Proverbs 17:17 “A friends loves at all times.”

Acknowledgments
A sincere thank you for two special women who have given support to this book that has come forth from my personal journey of over forty years with God.
To my sister and friend Vicki who has given her unconditional love in our journey we have taken together as sisters. She has been a large part of my support system in the sorrows, difficult times, and also the success and joys of my life. She has listened to readings and given encouragement to the creative process.
To Annika my daughter in law, who has been and continues to be an encourager and my friend. God has given us a special relationship that could only be found in him. The mutual respect in the relationship has taken us through some difficult decisions and sorrows within our family, having to make wise choices through mutual respect of all parties involved. We have seen God’s love and faithfulness as He has brought us out of the darkness into the light directing our path as a family to see His will accomplished.
She has been a large part of the editing process and listened to numerous ideas and given valuable impute to this creative process in all areas of this manuscript.

Dedication
This book is dedicated to my family and friends who have been one of the major tools that God has used in my growth in grace and knowledge in Him. I hold relationships in “high esteem” as God does with each of his children. The spiritual lessons that can be learned in relationships are invaluable as a growing Christian. I say a genuine thank you to each person that has touched my life through God’s hand.
Proverbs 27:17 (CEV) “Just as iron sharpens iron, friends sharpen the minds of each other.”

A Metaphor
This old house is a metaphor of my conversion in Jesus Christ. This was the condition of my heart and the response to the amazing love and light that I received through His word and by His grace.
It illustrates the process of me learning to walk by His word in “ the new creation ” that He has created me to be through the cross of Calvary.
