Introduction

Do you find yourself struggling with what you’re facing in life? Are you wondering aimlessly in the wilderness? We’ve all either been through the wilderness journey of life or will be at some stage of life. It’s at those moments when we underestimate God that we give way to life’s greatest trials.
It was just about four years ago when the Lord stirred a simple but powerful message in my heart. I could never have known the full impact that would come as a direct result of what I knew God was speaking to me and to my church. I got up on a Sunday morning and preached what I thought to be a simple message called “Then Suddenly”. The response was over whelming, the altars were filled with people crying out to God and believing for their “Then Suddenly” to be released in their lives.
My wife and I were included in that group of individuals who were crying out to the Lord with a specific request of what we believed for God to do in our lives. We were facing our own wilderness journey all the while believing God for our very own miracle. We felt lost and alone just as many of you are feeling right now. We had so many questions for God. We had those moments just like everyone else. We too wondered whether or not we would ever see God do what we believed for in our lives.
It was immediately after preaching this message that I had people coming out of the wood work telling me that I needed to take this message and put it into a book form. My response was, “when I see that my Then Suddenly take place, then I will.” I saw my “Then Suddenly” happen within months of preaching this message, but now three and half years later I find myself finally putting this message into book form.
Over the past four years since I first spoke this message, much has grown and developed in my heart. My first objective is to help you understand what a “Then Suddenly” experience is, and then furthermore how you can experience your “Then Suddenly” in your very own life.
The word “Suddenly” is defined by Webster’s Dictionary “as happening unexpectedly; changing angle all at once; marked by abruptness; brought about in a short time.” All of these words simply describe the workings of our God. He can and will bring things about in a short order. That is of course if we do our part as instructed by the Lord. However, I caution you because the very things that we believe for although they may come suddenly, they don’t always come quickly. Maybe there are some things in your life that you have been praying for, and believing for God to work out on your behalf. Maybe you’ve been praying for a long time.
One purpose of this book is to build your faith to believe God for your miracle or breakthrough. It’s also to prepare you for the potential wait that might be involved. It’s meant to encourage you, lift you up, and challenge you to never lose hope in spite of the wait or the discouraging outlook you may be confronted with at the present time.
God has a way of doing things unexpectedly. Those are some of the greatest blessings that God brings about in our lives. The great news is that it’s not about how long you’ve been praying for any particular thing. You may have just stepped into a season of your life where you need a “Then Suddenly” miracle or maybe you’ve been in this season for some time already.
One scripture that has always stood out to me throughout the years comes from Psalm 62:5: “My soul, wait silently for God alone for my expectation is from Him.” I love this scripture because it’s a constant reminder to me that my expectancy or my hope is not based upon or in any man. It’s certainly not found in the government, my employer and not even within my spouse. Maybe you have found yourself relying heavily on your husband to provide for your family. Maybe you’ve looked at your employer recently as your provider because he signs your paycheck.
We must realize that we can only have a strong expectation in God alone. All else may and will fail you at some stage in your life. However, God will never fail you. We have our expectation and hope in God because He is the one who made the promises concerning our future, destiny, and purpose. His word is filled with promises for our lives. Promises that we can begin to speak and decree daily over our lives as well as over our entire households. His word speaks to every circumstance or situation that any one of us may ever encounter. This is true whether the condition is spiritual, physical, emotional, financial, or any other component of an individual’s life.
