Description

Foundational Teaching from a Charismatic Healing Minister and a Catholic ScholarInternational healing minister Randy Clark teams up with Mary Healy, a respected Catholic scholar, to show not only that the gifts of the Spirit still exist today, but that they are not optional; they are the necessary tools God has given for both building his Church and spreading the Gospel. With wisdom and practical insight, Clark and Healy walk you through biblical texts, dispel misconceptions, and show that there is an endless variety of gifts. They also show how the gifts are not just for a select few, but distributed freely by the Holy Spirit among believers. After laying this foundation, the authors reveal how you can activate the gifts in your own life and use them to benefit others. In this hurting world, you can give people more than just a message--you can help usher them into an encounter with God.

Endorsements
“Randy Clark, whose ministry has changed my life, and Mary Healy, one of my favorite Bible scholars, offer this work on spiritual gifts to both Catholics and Protestants so that the whole body of Christ might be equipped to continue the supernatural ministry of Jesus. Be ready to be inspired.”
Dr. Tom Litteer, assistant dean, Global Awakening Theological Seminary; faculty mentor, United Theological Seminary
“This is an exceedingly important book. Randy Clark and Mary Healy show that the gifts of the Spirit have always been available to followers of Jesus, and we can experience them powerfully today. If you’re going to read one book on gifts of the Spirit, I recommend this one.”
David F. Watson, Ph.D., vice president for academic affairs and academic dean, United Theological Seminary
“ The Spiritual Gifts Handbook is written in a way that educates and inspires brilliantly. It is unique in that the two authors, Dr. Randy Clark and Dr. Mary Healy, represent very diverse segments of the Body of Christ—Protestants and Catholics. The beauty of their diversity is that they add strength to the other. Often, doctrines, teachings and personal convictions become compromised for the sake of unity, which isn’t always bad. Yet in this case, it’s the opposite. They fortify the other by adding to what’s already being taught and understood, without sacrificing the essentials. This handbook is a great gift to the Church and will be used to train and equip the people of God for many years to come.”
Bill Johnson, author, God Is Good , When Heaven Invades Earth and The Power That Changes the World
“This book will revive your expectation for God to work through you. You will also witness the power of the Holy Spirit to bring Catholics and Protestants together to speak with one voice. Healy and Clark are an example of unity in the Body of Christ, proclaiming Jesus as Lord in the power of the Spirit. I believe this book will bring many together with a common vision for the vital role of spiritual gifts in evangelization. My deepest gratitude to both authors for breaking down barriers to unity so that the world may believe that the Father has sent the Son to save us.”
Neal Lozano, founder and director, Heart of the Father Ministries; author, Unbound: A Practical Guide to Deliverance from Evil Spirits
Dedication
We would like to dedicate this book to the men and women who have preached and preach the Gospel, with healings and miraculous signs following. In doing so, they have greatly advanced the Kingdom of God and have won for the Lamb who was slain the rewards of His suffering.

Acknowledgments
I want to acknowledge the tremendous help of my editor, Trish Konieczny. I love working with you. You make my work easier and my books better. I also want to acknowledge Jane Campbell, the editorial director of Chosen, for believing in me and encouraging me to write. The whole team at Chosen has been so helpful in this entire process.
I am so thankful that God brought my co-author, Dr. Mary Healy, into my life. You have enriched my understanding of what God has done through the Catholic Church, and what He is continuing to do. I thank God that for you, the subject of this book is not merely an academic interest; you are also being used of God to flow in the gifts of the Spirit, including healing.
I also want to express thanks to John Rolf, the media director of Global Awakening, for finding the videos documenting many of my stories and creating the URL for the playlist (www.globalawakening.com/spiritualgiftshandbook).
Finally, I want to acknowledge a very patient wife, DeAnne. Without your understanding, I would not have found the time to write. You sacrificed so much of “our” time to allow this book to be written.
Randy Clark
I would like to thank all those who have helped enkindle in me expectant faith for the Lord to work healings and miracles beyond all we can ask or imagine, including Damian Stayne, Patti Mansfield, Peter Herbeck, Dave Nodar, Father Mathias Thelen, Patrick Reis and especially Randy Clark. The two weeks I spent with Randy and his team in Brazil were truly life changing. I am also grateful for the excellent editorial team at Chosen Books, who are unfailingly gracious and helpful. And I thank the Lord for the extraordinary outpouring of His Spirit in our time, which is forging bonds of unity among Christians and revealing to the world His everlasting mercy.

Introduction
J esus was a man of joy—the most joyful person who ever lived. His heart’s desire is that those who believe in Him would fully share His joy (see John 15:11; 17:13). But surprisingly, there is only one place where the gospels directly mention that Jesus rejoiced . There must have been a very particular reason for His joy at that moment.
The context of the passage shows the reason. At the beginning of chapter 10 of Luke, Jesus sent out seventy of His disciples, a wider group than the twelve apostles whom He had sent out earlier. Like the apostles, the seventy were given the privilege of sharing in Jesus’ own mission. They were to go from town to town announcing the Good News, just as He had. He instructed them, “Whenever you enter a town and they receive you . . . Heal the sick in it and say to them, ‘The kingdom of God has come near to you’” (Luke 10:8–9).
A short time later, the seventy disciples returned bursting with excitement: “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in your name!” (verse 17). Evidently, their labors had been fruitful. As Jesus had mandated, they had proclaimed the Good News of the Kingdom not only in words, but in works of power that demonstrated the truth of the words. They had seen bodies healed and demonic bondages broken—works that could only be attributed to the supernatural power of God breaking into the world. What is more, not only had they witnessed these mighty deeds, they had participated in them. They had been the instruments of God’s healing for the hurting and the oppressed.
It was hearing their “mission reports” that caused Jesus to be filled with joy: “In that same hour he rejoiced in the Holy Spirit and said, ‘I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding and revealed them to little children’” (verse 21). In His human heart, the Son of God was thrilled to see His disciples receiving God’s gifts like children and using these gifts to bring God’s love to others. If you are a parent, you know there is no delight quite like seeing your kids’ eyes light up with excitement as they tear off the wrapping paper and discover the presents that you carefully chose for them, and then watching as they start to ride the bike, or play with the doll, or build the Lego set. It is this kind of joy that Jesus must have experienced when He “rejoiced in the Holy Spirit.”
Jesus then exclaimed, “Blessed are the eyes that see what you see! For I tell you that many prophets and kings desired to see what you see, and did not see it, and to hear what you hear, and did not hear it” (verses 23–24). The disciples’ hearts were probably burning as they heard those words. For so many centuries God’s people had been waiting, hoping and longing for th
