The journey that you are about to embark on is one that has not been seen or understood in its entirety. There are many common thoughts about Paul, but none like this enlightenment that is set forth in this book. It is truly an eyeopener in many different aspects that have caused misunderstanding and confusion.

Patrick Pietrantano was raised as a Roman Catholic in a traditional Italian household. At the age of twenty, he first heard the term born again. That was a foreign thought that never came up in his many years of his Catholic education. That changed him forever as he endeavored to discover what those words truly meant. For the next forty some years, he made a quest to understand biblical truth in its simplest form. He studied the life of Paul the apostle in detail, and a spiritual understanding began to unfold to him that traditionally has not been taught.

In Simply Paul, Pietrantano shares what was revealed to him. Paul was a man of simple truth in what Paul believed as a pharisee to be God’s will, in the Jewish religion. Paul was among the top in his peers and defended it to the utmost. There came a defining moment that changed the direction in Paul’s life, as he had a direct encounter with Jesus Christ himself. What was talked about in this encounter will change your perception of Paul.

When this change occurred, Paul describes the battle that ensued by being the witness of these direct revelations from Jesus Christ himself. Simply Paul follows Paul’s life and addresses questions often asked, that traditional thought have not captured.

PREFACE
Paul the Apostle? How did he get this knowledge and who gave him such understanding. Paul describes this knowledge as a secret that has never been known to man before. The unveiling of this knowledge to him he describes as a face to face personal experience with Jesus Christ himself. The beginning of his ministry started on the road to Damascus, and the intense conversation that took place with Jesus Christ at that time. You most likely have never heard what took place in that conversation, but it is covered in great detail in this book.
What was the driving motivation that allowed Paul to endure such criticism, beatings and being stoned to death, and brought back from the dead? Demon possession is explained, how it works and how Paul deals with it. Exorcism and exorcists are brought to light in an understanding that will definitely engage you in biblical truth. What truly is an exorcist? You are about to find out!
What took place at the first council in Jerusalem dealing with circumcision and following the law? Was it necessary to observed it be saved or born again? For the Gentile no, but for the Jew they believed it was necessary. You will see the fiery words that took place in those discussions between Paul, the apostles and elders.
The final decision that was determined, was only half right. It was the beginning of a great division that took place in the first century church, and in many churches it still is. The ultimate demise and imprisonment of Paul the Apostle stems from the decisions made at this council. The understanding of this biblical truth has never been captured in any book or commentary that I know of. It will challenge you to discover truths that have been void of understanding.
Why Paul wanted to go to Jerusalem this time will be a heart breaker when you understand what motivated him. When you see all the prophetic words that were spoken to him many times, and especially by a legitimate prophet. What motivated him to disregard and Ignore these words, again it is a heart breaker.
Paul’s courteous treatment during his imprisonment and travel to Rome, which for the most part has been a misnomer. Paul’s last years in Rome where he penned a lot of the New Testament. It’s an adventure of truth that will be enlightening!

It is a kind of psalm, a poem and a riddle. I woke up at 3:30 AM and I heard “two years of one” which made no sense to me, but I wrote it down. The rest of it just came to me almost without thinking, it was effortless. It may take some time to figure out what it is about, it did for me. However, let me know what you think. I’ve known Pat Pietrantano for well over 30 years during which time my respect for him has grown immensely both as a personal friend and a dedicated Christian as well as a prolific author. Pat has been involved in biblical research, biblical teaching, as well as counseling for well over a decade. His insight into biblical research and teaching is and has been exemplary. This book on the life and writings of Saul is unique as to the insight into the life of one of the most important authors in the New Testament.
The teachings of Jesus have been exalted above the teaching of the Holy Spirit by Paul as though it was a rivalry between the two. But the words of Christ and the words of Paul are equal in importance in as much as both are recorded and given to us by the same Holy Spirit. After all it was Paul whose surname was Saul who wrote the seven Church epistles which the Holy Spirit addressed are Romans, Corinthians, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, and the Thessalonians. That is the same number of Asian churches that Christ himself addressed in revelations 2 and 3. These epistles contain the ABCs of Christian instructions for us today. Unfortunately they are very seldom taught in the churches of today.
Mr. Pietrantano has captured the whole emphasis of the life of Paul in a unique format that every Christian should read and study. I am convinced that Mr. Pietrantano Was inspired by the same Holy Spirit that led Paul throughout his ministry.

Paul’s Road to Damascus

Saul was born in Tarsus, a city in the province of Cilicia in what today is called Turkey in Asia Minor. He was born about AD 4, in the same time period when Jesus Christ was born about 2 BC. Saul was educated in Jerusalem at the feet of Gamaliel and was taught according to the prefect manner of the law. This was Paul’s statement the day he was taken prisoner in Jerusalem:
I am verily a man which am a Jew, born in Tarsus, a city in Cilicia, yet brought up in this city at the feet of Gamaliel and taught according to the perfect manner of the law of the fathers, and was zealous toward God, as ye are all this day. (Acts 22:3)
We would refer to Paul’s education today as PhD level. Gamaliel was a well-respected rabbi among all Jews, and a doctor of the Law. There is more about Gamaliel’s judgments later in Acts:
Then stood there up one in the council, a Pharisee, named Gamaliel, a doctor of the law, had a reputation among all the people, and commanded to put the apostles forth little space. (Acts 5:34)
Gamaliel introduced great understanding in the minds of the high priest and the Sadducees when they tried to kill the apostles in Acts 5. You have to ask? Was Saul at that council meeting when his professor, Gamaliel, gave his insight, or did Saul at least hear about it? Whichever way it went, Paul did not follow the guidance of his teacher. It’s a great record in the Word of God. Take some time and read Acts 5:12–42.
The first time Saul shows up is in Acts 7, so let’s begin.
And cast him [Stephen] out of the city, and stoned him, and the witnesses laid down their clothes at a young man’s feet, whose name is Saul. And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit. And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep. (Acts 7:58–60)
And Saul was consenting unto his death. And at that time there was great persecution against the church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judaea and Samaria, except the apostles. (Acts 8:1)
Saul, in chapter 8 of the book of Acts, was there at the stoning of Stephen. Saul heard and was witness to the accusations against Stephen:
And set up false witnesses, which said, this man ceaseth not to speak blasphemous words against this holy place, and the law: For we have heard him say, that this Jesus of Nazareth shall destroy this place, and shall change the customs which Moses delivered us. (Acts 6:13–14)
In the seventh chapter of Acts, Stephen presented the genetic lineage from Abraham to the Just One (Jesus) and called these false witnesses betrayers and murderers:
Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye. Which of the prophets have not your fathers persecuted? And they have slain them which shewed before of the coming of the Just One; of whom ye have been now the betrayers and murderers. (Acts 7: 51-52)
After the stoning of Stephen, Saul was consenting unto Stephen’s death:
