I am delighted to read the book The Search that Seeks You written by Amudha at one stretch. The flow is so captivating that I couldn t leave the book before I completed it at 1:30 am in the early morning. Love, culture, affection, nation, happiness, sorrow, life, death, action, result-all these phases of life have been beautifully articulated by the author. The innovation is-Amudha has intertwined the whole philosophy in such a way that it makes it appear that the entire phenomena portrayed in the book are true.
I congratulate Amudha for this brilliant work which provides the useful message of life to every reader in the society.
My best wishes to Amudha for success in all her literary missions.

Author s Note
O ver the last few years, I have been closely involved in spiritual practices to delve into and discover the varied mechanisms of life. Certain incidents during those years have been pivotal in helping me understand the subtle but overwhelming bonds between the mental and physical dimensions, which then leads one to think, understand, and accept the whys and why-nots in our lives.
In our everyday existence, though we feel the need to attain more, we also sense a consistent, hidden urge for a life of everlasting happiness that is devoid of any hurtful or negative experience. Our progress in accepting our situation and to learn to keep evolving keeps bringing us ever closer to that state of eternal happiness until we eventually attain it, because that is the true purpose of life.
Now, addressing the mundane, we know that we try to make ourselves happy by doing things, like achieving wealth, prosperity, following and perpetuating tradition, partaking of leisure, worship, enhancing our social status, etc., that we believe constitute our responsibilities as members of the physical world that we inhabit. But still, permanent happiness eludes us. Even the opportunities to seek permanent happiness are rare.
A lot of people use only religion, culture, and social norms as a yardstick for good and bad living. They are unaware of the overwhelming and universal cause-and-effect law known as karma , which is applicable and fair to everyone. This book will initiate one to think of life in terms of karma. It guides one on how to avoid accruing bad consequences due to bad deeds, besides leading them to a life of goodness, genuineness, and fulfilment. The book has been written for the purpose of guiding one through life in the face of the all-pervasive mechanism and manifestation of karma. So the book is prone to appeal and be instructional in different ways at different times to the same reader. In short, repetitive reading, when one naturally feels like doing it, can be revealing.
If the book is just read as a story, the guidance within it cannot be felt. But if one can place themselves in the situations of the main character, Karma, and then try to compare their reactions to his, one may understand a great deal more about themselves.
My good wishes to one and all to find the ability function within the bounds of goodness and seek that eternal happiness within.
Heartfelt thanks to Ravindra NL and others for their involvement.

Foundations to Journey Through
K arma, a second-year undergraduate student of an engineering college, is zealous and hardworking, and always happy.
One day, Karma and his classmates decide to go on a trip to the Kutrallam Falls in the Podhigai Hills, arranged with the help of their college authorities. Karma does not want to miss this trip. Even though Gayathri, his mother, knows that her son is a responsible person, she gives him her usual advice after listening to Karma s plans. Karma listens to everything that his mother has to say as he packs his clothes.
Though the objective is to experience the Kutrallam Falls, the students never fail to make the journey itself enjoyable. By late evening they reach Kutrallam Falls and the students check into a guesthouse reserved by their college. Being almost dark and the students a bit weary, they do not head to the waterfalls, but rest instead. Around 8 pm, there is a knock on Karma s door. Karma gets up lethargically and opens it. A staff of the guesthouse informs him that dinner is ready, and Karma and his friends immediately forget their lethargy and enthusiastically rush to the dining hall. On the dinner table, various dishes are being served. Karma, being fond of non-vegetarian food, is soon eating his favourite dishes with great relish. After dinner, he retires to his room for the night.
These days, a lot of people find it wasteful to get up early in the morning as they find no need to have some quiet, reflective moments for themselves. Similarly, the next morning, Karma and his friends wake up late. After their morning ablutions, they head for the waterfalls, each of them with a towel on their shoulders. After walking for awhile, Karma catches the first glimpse of the waterfalls by the foothills. It is a breathtaking sight. As he continues approaching the waterfalls, he muses about how one does not get to see such captivating and beautiful sights of nature in a city.
Getting closer to the falls, Karma and his friends find that it is quite crowded, since it is the weekend. However, they find a relatively quiet spot further down and step into the water there. But within a few minutes Karma steps out of the water, and calls out to his friends, This place is still noisy. Let s go elsewhere for now, a short trek perhaps. But not all of his friends want to leave the waterfalls.
Some of them, however, follow Karma. They all walk away from the falls and along a narrow path uphill. Where are you going? asked his friends, concerned. Karma replies, even as he continues smiling and walking towards the hills, I have heard that there is another waterfall further on, let s go there. We just have to stick to this route. Karma s friends, being confident about him and eager for a long trek, go along with the plan readily, appreciating the ever-changing scenery as they move along. After walking for a while, they see a small and barely noticeable signboard with the words Way to Theertam Falls . They continue for about an hour in that direction when suddenly they spot a rivulet. A little further down, they hear the sounds of a waterfall. As Karma and his friends continue to walk towards it, they soon see the small but beautiful Theertam Falls ahead of them.
Carefully wading through the shallow waters, they stand in and around the waterfalls, enjoying the natural beauty all around them. Karma s friends thank him on his decision to come here to be in the midst of such quiet surroundings, as opposed to the noisy and crowded falls they left behind.
Sometimes happiness is expressed in a loud and ostentatious manner. But Karma realizes that sometimes, silence too can be a way to show happiness. As Karma is in the water quietly relaxing, his attention is suddenly grabbed by a shadowy figure near the top of the waterfall. Immediately, Karma calls out to his friend, Sivakumar, I saw somebody up there. Quick, let s go and check it out.
Who is going to come here? Even if they do, they have to pass by us first, says Sivakumar, trying to dampen Karma s enthusiasm. Karma, though confused, continues wading through the water, keeping an eye out.
After a few seconds, there is movement in the same place again. This time Karma is clearly able to make out a human shape. Karma notices that the human form is heading deeper into the hills. I am going to check it out myself, says Karma as he tries looking for a path to it. He does not see any. It had rained a few days ago, and there are wild shrubs growing all over.
By grabbing hold of the shrubs and by gripping the edges of the rocks around, Karma reaches the top of the falls. A couple of his friends follow. They look around, but they don t see any
