The beginning
In the beginning, God made heaven and earth. Everything was completely dark. So God said, “Let there be light!” And there was light. God saw it was good. And that was day one!
6

Next…
On day two, God put water in the sea and clouds in the sky. On day three he made dry land, seas, and rivers. God said, “Let the earth be green!” Grasses, trees, and flowers sprang up. And God saw that it was all good.
8
Sun and stars
On day four God put the sun in the sky to warm the earth. The night was very dark, so God put the moon and the stars in the sky. Then he made spring, summer, autumn, and winter. It was all good.
9
Fish in the sea
On day five God made all sea creatures: sharks and turtles; shellfish and crabs.
And God made all the birds and   insects: eagles and sparrows;   wasps, flies, and bees.
Every shape and size of flying thing. God saw that it was all good.

All God’s creatures
On day six God said, “Let there be living things on land!” So he created dogs, horses, and camels; lions, lizards, and snails; worms, wombats, and warthogs.
12
And God saw it was good. Everything was good. But there were no people!
13
Adam and Eve
So God said, “I shall create humans.”  God made the first man, Adam.    And the first woman, Eve.
14
“Now start a family!” God told them.
“Let your family spread across the whole earth.”
The first garden
God gave Adam and Eve a beautiful garden         to live in. The Garden of Eden.
16
“Enjoy the garden!” God told Adam. “But never eat fruit from that tree in the middle of the garden.”
17
Forbidden
One day a snake slithered up to Eve. “Take a bite of that fruit,” he hissed. “But we mustn’t eat that!” said Eve. “Just one tiny bite!” said the snake.
18
So Eve took a bite. Adam came to find her, Eve said, “Here, taste this delicious fruit!” And Adam took a bite too.
19
Leaving the garden
That evening God came to the garden. “Where are you?” God called to them. “Why are you hiding?” “Eve gave me the fruit – so I ate it,” said Adam.
“The snake tricked me,” said Eve. Adam and Eve had disobeyed God. So he sent them out of the garden forever. Now they had to work hard, digging and sowing. They often thought of the happy times in Eden.
21
Noah builds an ark
Years later, many people were living on earth.
Just one man, Noah, was good.    “A great flood is coming,”     said God.
“Build a huge boat, Noah. Then fill it with your family and two of every sort of animal.” Noah did just that.
He built a huge boat – Noah’s ark.
Then he filled it                          with his family and two of every sort of animal.
22
23
The last animal climbed on board. Then the rain started. It rained so hard, water soon covered the hills. But the ark floated on the water. Noah, his family, and all the animals were safe inside. God helped Noah escape from the flood.
