Description

Donna's book uplifts the human spirit using scriptures and life experiences from herself and others through inspired revelations, endeavors, and prayers interwoven within texts.

Donna proclaims Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and witnesses to overcoming many trials and tribulations through God’s mercy, power, forgiveness, healings, and saving grace. Since the age of twelve when she first gave herself to God through Jesus Christ at Eighth and Center Street Baptist Church in Hannibal, Missouri (her hometown)… she had sensed His Holy presence in her life. Through the years, God has touched her life in so many ways; literally, “breaking shackles neath a load of guilt and shame” to allow her favor in listening for His guiding voice.

She has written a religiously-oriented non-fiction book which contains entries written in Christian meditations, memoirs, personal essays, and selected self-written poems. Meditations have originated from characters, primarily using the King James Version of the Bible and tell how they evolved in their relationships with the Lord as the writer has successfully conveyed to her readers.

To the best of her abilities through the workings of the Holy Spirit, she has tried to breathe God’s word into the writing of each of the experiences and challenges faced by herself and characters within the Bible. Hopefully, through such design these themes can aid the readers and soothe their hearts in what they are soulfully seeking in a word from God as they magnify His Holy name.

FOREWORD
It has been my pleasure to serve as a spiritual guide and Bible assistant to my beloved and anointed wife in the construction of this work. We, at all times have considered the uplifting value of the contents and pray that people will find help in the thoughts expressed herein.
Through her writings, the reader may experience clarity and resolution to their questions. Her style of writing takes the reader directly to the eventful happenings. I believe the reading of this collection will develop a closer bond between the reader and God.
Further, it is the author’s hope as she has expressed to me, that readers will benefit in their own lives from her sharing many of her own trials and tribulations. Also, by the help of God, via His voice and appointed angels… she has overcome most of her challenges, gained strength and discernment and learned to enjoy everyday living.

IN MEMORIAM
To my beloved husband, Dennis Vandeleur Rickman, who passed from this life unto eternity (God’s Kingdom) on September 9, 2022. His words of love and support are radiated throughout this book like the lighthouses on the pages and I thank him.

INTRODUCTION
What the Author Hopes to Convey in the Book:
This book is a collection of inspirational writings as heard by the author from God’s voice. Since the age of twelve when she first gave herself to God through Jesus Christ at Eighth and Center Street Baptist Church in Hannibal, Missouri (her hometown) she has sensed His Holy presence in her life. Through the years, God has touched her life in so many ways; literally, “breaking shackles neath a load of guilt and shame” to allow her favor in listening for His guiding voice.
To the best of her abilities through the workings of the Holy Spirit, she has tried to breathe God’s word into the writing of each entry from experiences and challenges faced by herself and characters within the Bible using various themes which are cited in alphabetical order. Hopefully, through such design these themes can aid the readers and soothe their hearts in what they are soulfully seeking in a word from God as they magnify His Holy name.
Had it not been for the Lord, she is not sure that she or they would have survived such situations; spiritually, mentally and physically. In most cases, we have triumphed and overcome both unforeseen and seen obstacles head on. Others, she has found are slowly brewing as she finds herself still working via professional therapy and medications. However, as a witness to His divineness, miracles, and glory… she knows that God stays close by and dwells within her spirit.
Also, there exists ripples of hilarity in some of these works which allows the reader some opportunities to reflect back to a softer time and melodious journey in his or her sojourn with God, thus enjoying the simpler things in life and laughing with thanksgiving about how you got over with God’s grace. To God be the glory throughout your reading!
How To Read This Book:
This book comprises a collection of inspirational writings and poetry as heard by the author from listening for God’s voice to direct her steps throughout this writing venture. Most often, she wants the reader to think about the lighthouses on the covers and throughout the pages to meditate on the serenity, solace, and spirituality which they can offer and that she found her hometown lighthouse afforded her.
She has written a religiously-oriented non-fiction book which contains entries written in memoirs, personal essays, Christian meditations, and selected self-written poems. Meditations have originated from characters using primarily the King James Version along with other versions of the Bible and tell how they evolved in their relationships with the Lord as the writer has successfully conveyed to her readers.
She has designated a group of scriptures to pre-read prior to each anticipated entry. They in turn will intertwine with each writing but are listed under Further Reading toward the end of the book. She then selectively places each entry under twenty-one themes upon which they are grouped accordingly.
This makes it easier to select a reading for a specific need or concern which one might have and wants to find out how the character(s) made it through and possibly, open the doors for readers to journal and share their own experiences as well under such themes.
In finality, she closes each entry with a revelation, endeavor, and prayer to use in one’s daily living. Throughout the entries, she has allowed the reader the opportunity to relate and reflect upon the scriptural passages and find meaning in the substance and settings of her writings.
