Description

This book is an account of Ché Ahn's personal journey through healing and into a healing ministry. With a simple and down-to-earth style, he demystifies the idea of healing the sick through prayer. His goal is to encourage others to use the power of prayer as a main line of defense. He explains the basic theology of healing and how to pray for yourself and others. He also discusses the times when God does not heal. Should we always expect healing? This introduction to the subject of prayer and healing balances the miraculous with the practical and draws from well-known sources such as John Wimber, Francis McNutt, Smith Wigglesworth, and others.

H OW TO P RAY FOR H EALING
Pastor Ché Ahn digs down and finds answers that others have not uncovered to questions about healing. We are on the verge of a great wave of supernatural healing, and How to Pray for Healing will be one of the best resources we can draw upon to see a release of God’s healing power.

“I die a thousand deaths each time I walk out on stage,” said the late Kathryn Kuhlman. Miss Kuhlman wasn’t alone. We too may face the prospect of multitudes of needy, often desperate, people we can meet on the stage of private life and the stage of public ministry. Even those used of God in legendary ways in the capacity of healing have faced unanswered questions while seeking to help others in biblical response to their deep human needs. Ché Ahn has asked some of those questions during his journey with Christ since his conversion and dramatic calling into this ministry. How to Pray for Healing gives some pointed and practical answers that will go a long way to helping us come to grips with the command of Jesus: “As you go,. . . heal the sick” (Matt. 10:7-8).

One of the great questions asked by many Christians is, Why do some people get healed and some don’t? It is a good question. Jesus told His disciples to “keep on asking,” “keep on seeking” and “keep on knocking.” Those who did would receive, find and have the door opened. He taught almost desperate perseverance. If you need healing, I believe you will be strengthened in your faith as you read Ché Ahn’s book How to Pray for Healing.

While traveling around the country during the last few years, I’ve seen the need for believers and unbelievers alike to experience the healing power of the living God. Ché Ahn does more than give us a fresh look at healing— How to Pray for Healing imparts a passion to ask God to pour out His love into this hurting world. Read it, practice it, and watch God move.

Few things today are more controversial in the Church than the issue of divine healing. In How to Pray for Healing , Ché Ahn removes the confusion and peels away the veneer regarding this critical issue. In a simple and transparent way, he provides us with a biblical foundation on which to base our faith.

F OREWORD
Radical changes have begun in the Church. We have seen nothing like them since the days of the Protestant Reformation in the sixteenth century. What I like to call the New Apostolic Reformation began to take shape in American churches in the 1990s, and my best estimation is that the Second Apostolic Age itself began in 2001.
The reason I mention this is that the appearance of this book, How to Pray for Healing , comes at a perfect time. It is no accident that it is being released in the early years of the Second Apostolic Age. When Ché Ahn decided to write this book, he was definitely hearing what the Spirit is saying to the churches.
Ché Ahn is superbly qualified to produce this simple, straightforward, biblical, practical manual for every believer to use in his or her daily course of life. I have known Ché Ahn for a long time. In fact, years ago I had the privilege of helping to guide him through his master of divinity and doctorate of ministry degree programs at Fuller Theological Seminary. Ché has developed into one of the outstanding apostles of our time. Not only does he pastor Harvest Rock Church in Pasadena, California, and not only was he, along with Lou Engle, the leader of the notable youth movement The Call; but he is also the apostle over Harvest International Ministries (HIM), an apostolic network embracing more than 1,100 churches located in many parts of the world.
Many people would agree that the weakest area in the American version of the New Apostolic Reformation is evangelism. In terms of reaching the lost, we are lagging far behind dynamic moves of God in places such as Nigeria, China, Indonesia, Nepal and Brazil. What is it that believers in these nations have that American believers don’t have? Sadly enough, it is simple faith in the power of God.
Bible-believing Christians certainly acknowledge that God is all-powerful. They use, without hesitation, the theological term “omnipotent” when describing God. However, we in America sometimes have a difficult time bringing a practical application of this belief into our daily lives. Even in life-giving churches, the great majority of members rarely, if ever, see sick people instantly healed when they pray for them. Even less frequently do they cast out demons and raise the dead, as Jesus said His disciples did (see Mark 16:17-18).
This lack of signs and wonders is about to change. For a century, God has been bringing waves of divine prodding to encourage believers to practice power ministries. These waves began with the Pentecostal movement in the early 1900s and continued with the healing evangelists after World War II, the charismatic renewal in the 1960s, the Third Wave in the 1980s and finally the outpourings such as the Toronto Blessing, the Brownsville revival and others.
Unfortunately, none of the above movements produced the widespread shift in the entire Body of Christ that many Christians had expected. In my opinion, this could have been due largely to the fact that back then the gifts and offices of apostle and prophet had not been widely recognized. However, the Second Apostolic Age has changed the picture. The foundation of the Church, namely apostles and prophets (see Eph. 2:20), is now in place—at least initially.
We are now moving into the day of the saints (to use a phrase popularized by Bill Hamon of Christian International Ministries Network). This means that you and I are about to see things happen that neither we nor our parents have seen. God is going to move so strongly throughout the Church that the ordinary people in the pews will surprise themselves with how many unbelievers they lead to Christ through supernatural signs and wonders. The saints movement is not something that we can produce by our sheer willpower or by following a series of prescribed steps. God Himself is going to do it.
Are you ready? When this begins, you will want to be as prepared as you can be. That’s why this book is so important. Praying for the sick can be a bit uncomfortable if you are not familiar with the basic principles. In this book, Ché Ahn will introduce you to some basic principles in a very understandable way. You will be excited as you experience the power of God flowing through you so strongly that the sick people whom you pray for will actually get well.
Not only will you love this book, but you will also probably want to pick up a few copies for your friends.
