INTRODUCTION: How to Use Dads Coaching Clinic / Resources
Congratulations! You have become part of a growing number of Christian leaders who desire to help dads become great dads. Dads Coaching Clinic was birthed out of a desire to help families get back on track and turn their hearts toward home.
This material is not intended to be exhaustive in its scope but is intended to be an introductory course for Christian and non-Christian fathers. We hope the desire to become a better dad will interest men whether they are part of a church or not.
How to Use Dads Coaching Clinic
We encourage churches to adapt the material to their community and clinic setting. We want you to take this material and make it work for you. Adapt it to your community with personal illustrations and language. The principles and/or tips can transcend generations and cultures because they are biblical. The best resources are those that are reworked by the user until the material is internalized for personal application and delivery. We encourage you to pray over, pray through, meditate on, and apply the material to your personal life.
The material is flexible and may be used in a number of ways:
Retreat
Host the Dads Coaching Clinic at an off-site location for a Friday and Saturday. You’ll be able to complete the entire five sessions during the weekend and build lasting relationships. Be sure to have follow-up activities after the event.
Five-Week Clinic
Schedule one time a week for men to come together to study one session. This method will allow the men to complete the Dads Coaching Clinic in five weeks.
One-Day Clinic
Schedule a Saturday morning for a one-day training seminar. This will utilize a “one big event” approach and is ideal if being used as an outreach for unchurched men.

Why a Clinic for Dads?
We are living in an era where the father isn’t necessarily seen as a positive role model. The following statistics show the negative effects of living in the time of the “absentee father”:
81.6 percent of children living in poverty come from homes in which the father is not present.
In 39.3 percent of these cases the mother was never married.
In another 37.6 percent of these cases the mother and father are divorced.
In only 4.6 percent of these cases is the mother a widow.

More than half of all jail inmates grew up in a single-parent household or with a guardian.
39 percent of all jail inmates were raised without a father present.

Children in single-mother families were more likely to have learning disabilities (11%) or ADHD (11%) compared with children in two-parent families (7% and 8%).
Children in single-mother families were almost twice as likely to have been absent from school for 11 or more days in the past 12 months due to illness or injury (7%) compared with children in two-parent families (4%).
Children in single-mother families were more likely to have been unable to get medical care and to have delayed medical care compared with children in two-parent families.

The following statistics show the positive effects that engaged fathers have on their children’s development and success:
