CHAPTER 1
Prayer is a Master Key to Church Growth
ASK OF ME, AND I SHALL GIVE THEE THE HEATHEN for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.
Psalm 2:8
Asking is a fundamental requirement for God to do anything for us on earth. To ensure that God answers our prayers, it’s important to ask God for things that He has instructed us in His word to ask. Many of our prayers are not answered because we are not praying according to the will of God. One of the great things God wants us to ask Him for is the heathen. He has promised to give us the heathen for our inheritance.
An inheritance is something valuable, and God wants us to pray for valuable and eternal things. Praying for the salvation of a soul is a great thing that we must all give ourselves to. The salvation of a soul is very precious to God.
Prayer is a master key to church growth; however, many church leaders and workers are not praying hard or long enough for church growth. You must learn to pray all day and all night long. There are times you need to spend many hours in prayer in order to breakthrough opposing forces to the growth of the church. Also, for the church to grow we must commit every aspect of the church life into the hands of God. Prayer is indeed a master key to church growth and we must determine not to throw away this master key regardless of our circumstances, thinking it does not work.
Prayer is important to church growth because the church is under the sovereignty of God. The growth of the church will come from God. God causes the growth of the church because increase comes from Him.
Paul said,

I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.
1 Corinthians 3:6

Although there are many things that make a church grow, prayer is the most fundamental and essential element, which should be done both independently and along with the other elements.

CHAPTER 2
Every Christian Must Pray for Church Growth
From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which EVERY JOINT supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.
Ephesians 4:16
Every Christian must pray for church growth because every joint or member is supposed to contribute to the growth of the body of Christ. Lack of growth will affect every part of the body. The church is like a football team that can only win if every player plays their part well. It means everybody has a part to play when it comes to church growth.
A lot of prayer is needed for a church to grow. Both individual prayer and corporate prayer are necessary for church growth. All church members must pray for a continuously growing church. Everybody has a part to play in church growth; hence everybody must pray for church growth.
Ephesians 2:10 says, “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them”.
One of the good works we are called to do is praying for the salvation of all people. Paul wrote:

I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, BE MADE FOR ALL MEN; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have ALL MEN TO BE SAVED, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
1Timothy 2:1-4

CHAPTER 4
How to Pray for Church Growth
Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.
Psalm 2:8
It is important for you to learn how to pray for the growth of your church.
1. Pray for a heart of compassion for lost souls.
But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd.
Matthew 9:36

Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved.
Romans 10:2
2. Pray for a church with a specific number of members .

Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.
Proverbs 29:18
3. Depend on the Holy Spirit to direct your prayers by praying a lot in tongues.

Likewise, the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.
Romans 8:26-27
4. Pray persistently for church growth .

I have set watchmen upon thy walls, O Jerusalem, which shall never hold their peace day nor night; ye that make mention of the Lord, keep not silence, and give him no rest, till he establish, and till he make Jerusalem a praise in the earth.
Isaiah 62:6-7
5. Pray fervent prayers .

Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed.
