Come to me, all you who are weary and I will give you rest learn from me and you will find rest
Jesus words from the Gospel of Matthew reveal to us that rest is first off a gift and yet, at the same time, it is something we must pursue. This book is written and dedicated to you - the tired, the weary, the frustrated. May you find the healing, restful sleep that you long for .

When my literary agent, Bill Jensen, first brought up the idea for a book on insomnia, admittedly I yawned. How interesting could I make the topic of sleep? Well, even if it turns out to be a really boring read , I jested, it would still bring about the desired result, right? Once I was knee-deep in my research, I found it was one of the most fascinating and needful books I could write. So, thank you, Bill. You re zzzz best!
From there I needed a sleep guide-and I found one in the very generous sleep expert Dr. Lee Shangold. Thank you for investing your time so that I could more clearly comprehend the complexities of sleep s architecture.
Thank you to those who have shared their sleep apnea testimonies within this book. You have allowed my readers a window into your own personal struggle with this potentially life-threatening disorder. I trust your life-changing outcomes will convince those with undiagnosed or untreated sleep apnea to not live another day without seeking a remedy.
For all the prayers of support that my Restoring Your Temple team has sent up as incense before the Throne, I once again thank you for your faithfulness. God continues His mighty work through us all.
To my husband, Peter-this is the sixth book in five years that you have read, chapter by chapter, and honestly critiqued. Thank you for pushing me to be the best writer and communicator I can be.
Finally to my editor, Paul Gossard, and my literary family at Harvest House Publishers-thank you for your attention to detail, every step of the way. I have been blessed and stretched for having joined you in this journey!

Foreword
by Lee Shangold, MD
L isa Morrone has an uncanny ability to take a vast and complex field and break it down into easily understood components. I read Lisa s Sleep Well Again on a business flight from New York to San Francisco and found so much practical and useful information that I incorporated some of her explanations in a talk I was giving the next day on sleep apnea at a national meeting.
I am surely biased, but I believe that sleep is an important, timely, and fascinating topic. We spend one-third of our lives sleeping. When we sleep well, we don t think about it. When we don t sleep well, it is sometimes all we think about. From Hippocrates in 400 BC to William Shakespeare in the early 1600s to Charles Dickens in his 1836 novel, The Pickwick Papers , sleep and sleep disorders have been well described prior to any real understanding of these phenomena.
In its present form, the field of sleep medicine has been practiced for only the last 40 years. But what a 40 years it s been! The advances in diagnosis and treatment options for sleep disorders, over this short time period, have been nothing short of remarkable.
As is now known, sleep disorders can increase our risk of immune system dysfunction, high blood pressure, diabetes, heart attacks, strokes, and motor vehicle accidents. Poor sleep can lead to drowsiness, decreased ability to concentrate, memory impairment, decreased physical performance, hallucinations, mood swings and, in younger people, poor growth.
Since many of my sleep patients have more than one disorder, it is very common to focus on one diagnosis and then be somewhat disappointed when the adequate treatment of that one diagnosis does not lead to complete resolution of symptoms. However, Lisa s book is a comprehensive guide to the most common sleep problems-and if read in its entirety, will allow you to understand the vast majority of issues you might face.
Further, Lisa s writing is easy to understand and even easier to put into action. It gives practical suggestions about good sleep hygiene. It covers the entire spectrum of sleep disorders that can lead to poor sleep including insomnia, sleep a
