#1

When you get a diagnosis of Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, you feel relief, but also betrayal. Your body has let you down, and you don’t know what you can trust anymore if you can’t trust your body to be on your side.

#2

If you’ve been diagnosed with hypothyroidism, you may have heard that you’re aging prematurely. While your story is your own, and the specifics of what you’ve gone through are specific to you, you stand united with a courageous and determined army that will not settle for anything less than the truth about thyroid health.

#3

You are driven forward by a nagging sense that something here isn’t right. You believe that there must be a bigger explanation, and you’re right.

#4

Your symptoms and illness are not your fault. You did not bring them on yourself by thinking the wrong thoughts or fixating too much on fear. Your body has not betrayed you. It has been working night and day to support you since the day you were born.

#5

Theories about why the body attacks the thyroid are often repeated and become accepted as fact. However, autoimmune disease is not caused by the body attacking itself, and thyroid disease is not a simple matter of aging, genetics, or thinking the wrong thoughts.

#6

If you’ve been diagnosed with Hashimoto’s, hypothyroidism, or any other thyroid issue, you’re not getting the most effective treatment because medical communities aren’t yet able to offer remedies that heal the underlying problem.

#7

The thyroid is not the ultimate reason for people’s symptoms. It is just one of many symptoms caused by the thyroid virus. The virus causes many symptoms and conditions beyond what’s associated with the thyroid, and so, in fact, all of your health problems may point back to it.

#8

In Part IV, Secrets of Sleep, we’ll help you get to the bottom of your sleep issues. Sleep is a critical component of healing from the thyroid virus and protecting your health for the future.

#9

After reading this book, you will understand the truth about your thyroid, and be able to use that truth to help yourself heal. You will be the thyroid expert.

#10

When dealing with a thyroid issue, you’ll likely have asked yourself questions like how did this happen to me, and why me. The timing of your illness might have felt cruel. Just when life was feeling particularly difficult to balance, illness landed in your lap.

#11

The thyroid virus advances from the bloodstream to the lymph nodes to organs such as the liver to the thyroid to the central nervous system, and it’s common for several triggers to play a role in this process.

#12

The most common thyroid virus triggers are mold, Mercury-based dental amalgam fillings, zinc deficiency, B12 deficiency, and pesticides and herbicides.

#13

The list of triggers that can feed the thyroid virus is long, and includes emotional trauma, taking care of sick loved ones, professional carpet cleaning, and financial strain.

#14

The thyroid virus can be triggered by any prolonged sleep issue, insomnia, summer swimming, runoff from land dumps, and insect bites and stings.

#15

A trigger is only a trigger. In order for it to give fuel to the thyroid virus, the virus has to be there in your system in the first place. The thyroid virus is like a fire. A thyroid virus trigger is simply gasoline thrown on the flames that makes them get hotter and spread faster.

#16

You have a right to go through life without getting sick. You can use the information in the trigger list to heighten your awareness so that you can protect yourself and your family from avoidable triggers.

#17

The thyroid virus is very easy to catch. It is transmitted through blood, saliva, tears, a runny nose, and more. It is possible that you could have caught it without realizing at the time.

#18

The pathogen that I’ve been calling the thyroid virus is the same one that causes mononucleosis: Epstein-Barr virus. Medical communities have yet to discover that mono is only Stage Two of this virus, and that in fact, the virus has four stages.

#19

Epstein-Barr virus is a virus that has existed for over 100 years. It has moved through many generations of people, and has evolved into many different types. It is responsible for some of the most debilitating illnesses in today’s society, including multiple sclerosis and various cancers.

#20

As EBV replicates, it produces byproduct waste matter that is toxic to the body. These byproduct wastes are made up of whatever the virus is feeding off of, such as mercury and other toxic heavy metals, and when these fuels come out the other end, they are even more corrupted versions of themselves.

#21

Because EBV makes the liver and lymphatic system slow and dysfunctional, they are usually unable to filter out these poisons, so they tend to escape through the skin, causing irritation, pain, itching, and/or rashes.

#22

When a person first catches EBV, or when someone is born with it, the virus is in the bloodstream and it usually remains dormant. If you have EBV, it would not have seemed like you were sick. The worst symptoms you might have experienced were listlessness, mild fatigue, and a bit more susceptibility to colds, flus, and sore throats.

#23

During mono, the body’s immune system is fighting the Epstein-Barr virus. The virus releases a chemical that announces to your immune system that an invader is present. Your immune system responds by sending identifier cells to tag virus cells with a hormone that marks them as invaders in your blood and lymph.

#24

Once the virus has moved on to the organs, blood tests will show a past infection of EBV, not a present one. This means that the virus is no longer causing problems, but it has simply gone deeper into the body.

#25

As a result of the virus nesting in the liver, some people will experience a mild bout of mono. This won’t show up on blood tests because you’ve already had mono, so doctors will most likely notice the antibodies indicating past infection.

#26

The virus can also affect the thyroid, which can lead to mono symptoms fading as the virus burrows deep into thyroid tissue and kills off cells.
