Begin with God
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
JOHN1:1
Whether it’s a project, a new day, a time set aside for being alone, or an important phone call, this bit of truth always applies: Begin with God! If you want to be more organized and have more time to do the things that are important to you, start with God. After all, the Bible clearly tells us that our heavenly Father is the Alpha and the Omega— the beginning and the end. Let’s start from there. Today, as you work toward home organization, start by quieting your heart before Him. I’ve learned that when I have an “uncluttered heart” I have a lot better chance of establishing an uncluttered home. Make sure everything has a designated place. One of my sayings is “Don’t put it down, put it away.” Get rid of all items you don’t use. They just add to the clutter. The missionary Hudson Taylor said, “Don’t have your concert first and tune your instruments afterward.” Begin with God. He’ll lead you in the way you should go! He’s good at that!
Simple Pleasures With snow falling outside, enjoy a steaming cup of hot chocolate. Reflect on the solitude of a winter garden. Open your windows and combine crisp air, a cozy throw, and a crackling fire.
Wisdom for Living Here I am, Lord. Speak, and I will follow.
Creative Solutions
Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.
PHILIPPIANS1:6 (KJV)
Every day presents opportunities for growth. Every problem has a solution. Sometimes all it takes is to think a little differently than we have before. Maybe your kitchen and dining room are combined offering you little privacy between the two. Consider installing a ceiling-hung venetian blind to separate the two areas. Trying to save money around the house? Cook as many foods in the oven at one time as you can…and on the stove top, match the size of the pan to the heating element so more heat will get to the pan. Next time you crack one of your china cups, don’t throw it out. Did you know that you can mend the crack in that cup—with milk? Immerse the cup in a pan of milk, simmer for three-quarters of an hour—then just wash and dry it. The protein in the milk is what works the miracle. Speaking of milk, heed 1 Peter 2:2 (NASB): “Like newborn babies, long for the pure milk of the word, so that by it you may grow.” Today let the Word of God dwell in your heart, and His creative heart will shape and mold yours. Growth is that simple!
Simple Pleasures All the problems become smaller if you don’t dodge them, but confront them. Touch a thistle timidly, and it pricks you; grasp it boldly, and its spines crumble. —WILLIAMS. HALSEY
Wisdom for Living Dear Lord, thank You that You are committed to restoring me. Make me whole. Begin today.

Rewards forCleaning House
He that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
HEBREWS11:6 (KJV)
I’m a firm believer in rewards! And I reward myself often when it comes to some of the more mundane tasks of cleaning house. Discover your idea of bliss, and use it to make those tasks a little less mundane. Let me explain. Cleaning house is a very personal issue. Start by not worrying about other people’s standards. Decide what clean means to you, and make that your goal. Establish simple, bite-size priorities. Identify those tasks that absolutely have to be done, ones that should be done, and ones that would be nice to get done. Work on them in that order—and forget the rest. Set time limits. Do what you can now and be happy about it. Relish what you have accomplished instead of focusing on what still remains to be done. Finish one task before you begin another. When you’ve finished, reward yourself for a job well-done. For me that often means a time of quiet—with my Bible, my journal, and a cup of tea—and my feet propped up. Discover your idea of bliss!
Simple Pleasures Experience a “lights out” night and live by candlelight. Share your favorite book with a friend and then find a quiet book shop to discuss your thoughts over coffee or tea. Settle into your favorite chair and breathe a sigh of relief.
Wisdom for Living Lord, Your daily blessings fill my heart with such abundance. May I pour out Your love on those around me. Pleasing You is my highest reward.
