For my mum and dad. Thank you
Thank you, Mum and Dad, for helping me through my eye operations, and for being there when I was bullied as a child and assaulted twice later on in my life. Thank you for those special memories we have shared, for all the days out and holidays you both took me on when I was a child and for helping me with my homework to showing me the error of my ways. And thank you, Dad, for bringing me home the latest Star Wars figures after you had a busy day at work. Mum and Dad, you’re more than parents to me; you’re my best friends, who I can talk to about anything. If I have a problem, I know that you’re there to listen and help me through it. Although, I know one day you won’t be there, and until that day arrives I will treasure every moment we get to spend together. And, after all is said and done, I will remember the good times we shared and the life lessons you both taught me, always.
Mum and Dad, I will cherish you both with the fondest of memories and make you proud of me. I will not dwell that you’re no longer here because I will always keep you both close, in my heart, mind and soul. And I will live, laugh and continue to improve my life, and spread happiness and positivity to everybody I meet, because I know that’s what you would want me to do. And, wherever I may be, I will always remember that you’re both there by my side continuing to guide me on my journey through life. With your guidance and positive attitudes, you have helped get me through so many difficult times I have faced. You have also taught me many valuable lessons along the way as well, which have always been to have a positive outlook on life, to believe in myself and always to be courteous, respectful and honest to others. We have been through so much together, and I can’t thank you enough for being there for me. Mum and Dad, you were and will always be my rock and where I draw my strength and positive attitude and zest for life. I love you both very, very much; you’re my most prominent inspirations in life, and I’m so proud to call you my parents. Thank you for bringing me into this world and raising me how you have. With all my love, I dedicate my book to both of you.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul
William Ernest Henley 1849–1903
The greatest discovery of my generation is that human beings can alter their lives by altering their attitudes of mind
William James 1842–1910
If there’s any message to my work, it is ultimately that it’s OK to be different, that it’s good to be different, that we should question ourselves before we pass judgement on someone who looks different, behaves different, talks different, is a different colour. I am doing things that are true to me. The only thing I have a problem with is being labelled
Johnny Depp 1963–

Superman feeds off the power of the sun,
where I feed off the power of hardstyle music,
and the more I listen to hardstyle,
the more energised and focused I become
on chasing after my dreams
The powerful baselines, and the euphoric
melodies and lyrics in hardstyle, happy hardcore and
trance music have helped me stay
positive and optimistic through the challenging
times I have been faced with in my life.
And this is why, hardstyle, happy hardcore and
trance will be my style forever
Music is the one thing in life that helps to connect us all
Make things happen by living in the moment
Believe in the magic of positivity
and spread love and happiness to everyone

Acknowledgements
My book is also a dedication to Sophie Lancaster, who was brutally murdered on 24 August 2007 for being an alternative individual, which is something very close to my heart. I also dedicate my book to Sophie’s mum, Sylvia Lancaster, who campaigns against hate crimes against alternative subcultures. Sylvia Lancaster is also the chief executive of the Sophie Lancaster Foundation, which she set up in honour of her daughter: sophielancasterfoundation.com
My heart goes out to Sylvia and to her family with what they have had to live with all of these years because of the uneducated and small-mindedness of discriminating people in today’s society who have issues with people, such as myself, who live an alternative lifestyle.
All my love goes out to Sophie Lancaster, Sylvia Lancaster and to all of Sophie and Sylvia’s family and friends, who have been affected by Sophie’s senseless killing. I write more about Sophie Lancaster and all the exceptional work her mum, Sylvia, does at the beginning of the chapter ‘Be Unique, Be Yourself, Be Positive, Be Individual’. My book is also dedicated to my family, mates and online friends and followers who have supported, believed in me and contributed to my book. Furthermore, I would like to dedicate my book to all of the victims of the coronavirus who sadly lost their lives. We are now living in a new world; we have learnt many valuable lessons. Together we can move forward. Let’s honour those who lost their lives by creating a more civilised society they would be proud of by showing more reverence and compassion towards our fellow humans. One world, one love, peace to all.
And finally, I guess you could say I’m not your average man, because on first appearances you might think, ‘Why on earth is this guy dressed as a pirate? What could he possibly be able to teach me?’ Looks can be deceiving, though, and, as they say, you should never judge a book by its cover because you don’t know what lies within the pages before you. Now let’s make the world a happier place for you and me to live in together and remind each other that we are never alone.

Thou shall not judge or have distain,
Thou shall never look down on anybody,
Thou shall not bully or intimidate others,
Thou shall believe in thyself,
Thou shall love thy family and friends,
Thou shall stay away from negative people,
Thou shall not do wrong upon those
who have done wrong upon thee,
Thou shall move on and rise above
the hatred of others,
Thou shall stay strong, positive and determined
throughout thy life,
And thou shall always do thy best to
Smile and be happy every day
