Description

The legendary physicist Niels Bohr had put up a horseshoe at his door. Somebody asked him that he was a scientist, how come he believed in a superstition like a horseshoe. The scientist replied: "I have been told whether you believe in it or not, it brings good luck to you." I Therefore, the best aspect of future telling is that those who say that they don't believe in it, even they can't resist the curiosity to know what is in store for them. However, this book will help you to understand the intricate and complex world of numerology. After reading it, you can practice it for fun, pleasure and even making friends and influencing people.

PALMISTRY

INTRODUCTION
Man has always been desirous of penetrating the dark veil of future to know what he is going to get. Human history is full of incidents illustrating this intense yearning toward the unfathomable. Hence it is natural that all the books that help in reading one’s future enjoy great popularity. But the basic purpose of these books should be to not only help leaders know the trend of their future but also to enlighten about this great science which, in T.S. Iliot’s words ‘Evokes biographies from the wrinkles of the palm’. If one attempts to read those scholarly books on the subject by Western Palmists like Comte C.De Saint-Germain or Sir Benham, one gets more confused owing to one’s sheer lack of knowledge about the basics of the subject. Whereas the other books available on the Hindu ‘Samudrik Shashtra’ do not shed much light only on the palm to rivet the attention of the new learner. An average person does not feel satisfied with these sort of treatise. What he or she needs is a small handy book giving all the basic information about Palmistry.
An endeavour in this direction is being made to fill this vacuum. This book is basically meant for a layman, who has every right to know his future sans the trap laid down by the pavement charlatans. For Palmistry is not a trick to dupe the gullible but very much a science based upon the traditions of centuries, upon the researches, observations, discoveries of generation after generation, each of which has brought its stone to the present solid structure. Was it not Balzac who said, “Why should not the hand give the characteristics of man’s physiognomy, since the hand is the medium of manifestation of human action?”
Now a word of advice to our young learners. Never rush to a conclusion by seeing just a sign or line. Always compare both the hands of the subject and read all the adjoining signs before you pass your verdict. And always study the right hand because, it being farther away from the heart, has somewhat stability of the signs and lines. As is well- known, these lines and signs get changed by your different phases of life and hence by your blood- circulation. And if your subject happens to be a left-hander, see his left hand first and compare it with the right hand. There is much sense in the belief that your active hand shows what you cultivate by your efforts and the other shows what you inherit. There is a general practice in India that the palmist should see left hand of a female subject and right hand of a male. This is pure bunkum. All human beings are the same for this great branch of knowledge, without any distinction of the caste, creed and sex.
To fill the essence of this vast knowledge into this small book has been a very cumbersome task. But for the all possible help provided by Mr. Narendar Kumar of Diamond Pocket Books, this book could not have reached your hands. I own my sincere gratitude to him.

CHAPTER 1
THE HAND, THE PALM AND THE FINGERS
HAND
Large Hands
Belong to those people who are fond of very fine work and relish to know even the minute details of life. They generally write a small hand, are great sticklers for etiquette, are easily offended by little breaches of courtesy.

Fig 1.—THE MAP OF THE HAND
Small Hands
These are the hands of the people having just opposite characteristics to the ones described above. They write a large hand and look at things in a broad, quickly satisfied manner. They are easily pleased and do not get offended soon. Very fine things transcend their comprehension and they prefer the bustle of life to its smaller duties.
The Soft Hand
It belongs to the person having poetical temperament, the owner of it is more ruled by imagination, nerves and often senses rather than by cold logic. It is more frequently the woman’s hand. However, if it becomes more flabby then all the above characteristics are increased to danger point. The owner of it is generally lazy, the voluptuary, the utterly selfish and heartless, and as a natural consequence, the hand of the ‘turn-coats’ and cunning persons.
The Hard Hand
It denotes a practical and generally unimaginative person, if the hardness is not exaggerated it is the sign of a straight forward disposition, fond of activity and even hard work. Such a person will not be demonstrative in his or her affections but shall remain steadfast and reliable. He will have infinite capacity to bear hardships courageously.
Our hands generally grow harder, less supply and dryer as we grow older. Hence always consider the age of the person while reading his or her palm to decide the category of the hand under your study.
An exceedingly hard hand will denote lack of intelligence, brutality and callous attitude to others’ consideration.
If the palm is thin, skinny and narrow, it shows timidity, meanness and poverty of intellect and also a lack of energy, either active or passive.
If the palm is thick in a soft hand, it pronounces the sensuality, materially gross instincts as also over confidence and selfishness.
If the palm is very thick in a hard hand with short fingers, it shows the typical primitive hand or like that of the unskilled labourer.
A very hollow palm invariably denotes the failure in money matters, though the owner may be quite selfish by nature.
If this hollow leans, towards the top of the palm, it indicates probable brain trouble or apoplexy.
If this hollow is almost in the middle of the palm, it foretells money losses and business troubles.
FINGERS
Long Fingers
Give love of details, exactness in all small matters, proneness to worry over the trifle; they often belong to people troubled with affection in their speech and manner. The native may be easily put out by adverse treatment. In a bad hand, they enhance the deceit and cowardice of the native.
Short Fingers
Give neglect of details and the tendency to take the things for granted without analysing their pros and cons. Such persons are rather bohemian in dress and habits and make up their minds rather hastily. They are impulsive talkes and cannot be circumspect in their behaviour and attitude.
Thick and short fingers denote selfishness and sometimes cruelty.
Those fingers that are curved inward, denote excess of prudence, often stubborness and sometimes avarice.
Those fingers that are easily curved backward indicate that the person is very sociable and gives good company but is gossipy and inquisitive to excess and often extravagant in money matters.
Smooth fingers (whose joints are not knotted) belong to the “chatterbox” hand, the person would lack discretion and a lover of the idle talk.
If the fingers are too close to each other they show avaricious disposition of the person.
If the fingers have comparatively large openings between them, they denote the intemperate curiosity of the person.
If the first finger is abnormally long, such a person would have a natural tendency to rule and tyrannize and others.
