Relaxation Inspired,
the Book
Mission Statement
The purpose of Relaxation Inspired is to provide information, guidance, resources, and inspiration on learning how to relax at will, both for short periods of deep relaxation practice and as a tool to enhance daily living.
The content of this book is intended to be readily understood and to bring hope and assurance to those who are stressed, overwhelmed, depressed, in pain, suffering from debilitating illness, or simply just in need of being able to switch off occasionally from the fast, demanding lifestyle of the modern day.
The aim therefore is to offer practical means of help, grounded in understanding, which allows the reader to make relaxation a real and substantial factor in their life.
Pleasure, Happiness,
and Enjoyment of Life
are proportional to our ability to relax
Relaxation Inspired has resulted from an accumulation of my career and personal experiences over the years.
For many years, I have been aware that the significant things in my life have been drawn to me as I have needed them. As a young mother in England, I was guided to take up yoga; not something I had ever considered at that time, but suddenly it was presented to me as an option that I could not ignore. The universe was speaking to me! I immediately fell in love with yoga and am eternally grateful for the gifts it has brought me.
It soon proved itself to be something immensely deeper and incredibly more significant and powerful than mere physical exercise. Yoga totally embraces the holistic approach to self-development, by bringing the body, breath, mind and emotions into balance, and connecting them all to our Spirit within. Interestingly, every one of the disciplines of yoga requires the ability to let go and relax in order to successfully master them. Even the physical postures of yoga demand that we relax the muscles that are not involved with them. The path of yoga is very much about the process of letting go, of narrowing our field of attention, and bringing our whole being into a state of perfect peace and relaxation.
From my beginnings as a yoga student, I moved into training to become a yoga teacher/instructor. I further progressed so that I was qualified under the British Wheel of Yoga to train others to become yoga instructors. I guess I had a primal urge to spread the word as much as I could!
Along the way, other pursuits were ‘attracted’ to me in the field of alternative health. I acquired qualifications in Massage, Reflexology and Specialised Kinesiology. I also worked for a while with the National Health Service in the UK as part of a team offering stress management services to nurses and staff of a city hospital.
For some time, I have had the desire to share some of the experience and knowledge I have gained over the years with a wider audience. As I allowed this idea to rest in my mind for a while, I realised that the one common thread running through all my work has been the unquestionable value of learning how to relax and that this is a skill unheard of by so many.
From that idea came the birth of the website, RelaxationInspired.com, the production of Guided Relaxations in the form of audio CDs and now the accompanying book.
Introduction
Relaxation Inspired, the Book has been born out of a desire to share the joyful and healing experience of deep physical, mental, and emotional relaxation with as many people as possible. It started life as a website, RelaxationInspired.com, offering explanation, information, guidance, and practical instruction on how to relax, with the experience of relaxation itself being provided through Christine’s audio CDs.
The purpose of this little book on relaxation, therefore, is to bring the contents of the website into a tangible format with printed pages you can scribble notes on, adorn with coffee mug imprints, and lovingly refer to when you need reminding of the magic and simplicity of relaxation; a book you can loan to friends or family to help them discover the path to greater physical freedom, mental balance, and emotio
