Introduction
Many years ago, when I was going through a dark patch in my life, a dear friend inspired me to turn my life around. Talking to her on the phone more recently, I was the one inspiring her to lift herself beyond the health challenges she is facing, by teaching her how to go beyond the pressures that are dragging her down and create a truly AMAZING life, just as I have done for myself.
‘You really changed your life,’ my friend said. ‘I have read all the books and watched all the films, but it’s difficult to apply the information in a way that makes any significant difference. So I haven’t really changed my life very much at all. How do you do it, Ailsa?’
‘If you hadn’t helped me in my hour of need, I might not have got my life together, gained the knowledge I have and been in a position to help you today,’ I told her. ‘You have overloaded yourself with too much information. That’s why you can’t use any of it to help yourself. Life is much simpler than you are making it. You just need to cut the crap and feel AMAZING.’
That’s when the idea struck me for the name of the self-help book I had wanted to write for a long time. After I said goodbye to my friend on the phone, I started writing down what I was teaching her, and what I teach many of the clients who come to me in my role as a hypnotherapist, so that other people could benefit from it too.
Like any therapist, I have adapted various methods and basic tools to create my own way of working to help people in the best way I can. Using creative techniques to move the mind into positive thinking, combined with what I have learned from my experience with clients over the years and some common sense, I teach them how to help themselves. ‘Cutting the crap and feeling AMAZING’ is all about rising above the negative and the dramas, getting into the AMAZING zone, learning to manage your life better and sorting through the things you need to change to improve your life.
We often have more skills and more knowledge based on our own life experiences than we realise. So, even when you think you can’t do something, you probably can. Cut the Crap and Feel AMAZING is the first book I have written and there were a few moments, particularly when I started writing it, when self-doubt crept in. But, by using the techniques I was describing and reminding myself of all the hypnotherapy scripts I have written and all the knowledge I have gained from helping many clients, I self-talked myself into believing I could do it. Within four months of writing the first line on the first page, this book was being printed.
When you cut the crap of self-doubting, you can get things done in AMAZING ways.
From the moment you start to read this book you will start to change the way you think. Apply the ‘AMAZING’ to your life from the outset and watch the process of positive transformation begin. Read the book, then re-read it – or at least the chapters that are most relevant to you – and incorporate the simple techniques described in it into your daily routine so that they become part of your way of life.
What you are about to read will make your dreams more positive and then help you to make those dreams come true.
Chapter 1

GET INTO THE AMAZING ZONE
Stop trying to control everything. Let your life be an adventure. Cut out the negative and feel AMAZING.
Focus on the life you want, not the life you have had
I developed the concept of the AMAZING zone many years ago to help myself when working under high pressure. Then I used it later to help clients through my hypnotherapy work. The AMAZING zone bypasses fears, worries, self-doubt and distress. It is a simple concept that is easy to remember, and it really works. I teach the AMAZING zone to my hypnotherapy clients, many of whom come back later to tell me AMAZING stories about the ways in which their lives have worked out well.
As a hypnotherapist, I know the power of the subconscious mind: every time you talk to yourself you are, in effect, hypnotising yourself. If what you tell yourself is negative, you will eventually be programmed into believing that negative thought. But if your self-talk is positive, you will program yourself positively. And it isn’t only what you say to yourself that will have this effect. You are also being constantly programmed – positively and negatively – by other people, by the situations in which you find yourself and by past experiences that have formed the foundation of your belief system.
What is the AMAZING zone?
Imagine all the crap in your life right now (stress, worries, fears, negative emotions, money problems, work and relationship issues …) and then imagine rising above it all , feeling empowered as all the negative issues resolve because you have found everything you need to make them work out well. Feeling stuck simply leads to more feelings of being stuck. By rising above everything, good or bad, saying ‘It’s AMAZING’ and feeling optimistic that things will work out AMAZINGLY well, you will expect nothing less than AMAZING and, over time, this is the result you will achieve.
When you think and talk AMAZING, you will find yourself in the right place at the right time for AMAZING things to happen. Even when everything seems to be going wrong, let the frustration pass and persist in saying ‘AMAZING’. It’s a bit like the positive person who falls into dog mess and comes up smelling of roses: if you are positive about even a negative event, it will turn out positively.
