Sample Book Insights:
#1 When I was young, I had dreams of being a rock star. But after a few years of chasing that dream, I had to grow up and get a real job. The Great Recession of the 2000s altered the course of my life forever.
#2 I was 26 years old and unemployed in 2009. I had a family, a mortgage, and a life in a new and unfamiliar place with no job prospects. I felt like a total failure. I was scared, frustrated, and embarrassed.
#3 I decided to create an online presence, and in January 2010, I began sharing screen recordings of what I was doing in my recording software. I renamed my blog and channel The Recording Revolution because I felt it described what I was excited about as a musician and producer.
#4 I was able to make money from my content by selling video courses. I didn’t have any proof of this concept at the time, but I had a feeling it might work.

#1

When I was young, I had dreams of being a rock star. But after a few years of chasing that dream, I had to grow up and get a real job. The Great Recession of the 2000s altered the course of my life forever.

#2

I was 26 years old and unemployed in 2009. I had a family, a mortgage, and a life in a new and unfamiliar place with no job prospects. I felt like a total failure. I was scared, frustrated, and embarrassed.

#3

I decided to create an online presence, and in January 2010, I began sharing screen recordings of what I was doing in my recording software. I renamed my blog and channel The Recording Revolution because I felt it described what I was excited about as a musician and producer.

#4

I was able to make money from my content by selling video courses. I didn’t have any proof of this concept at the time, but I had a feeling it might work.

#5

I spent about a week filming three to four hours of videos covering a popular type of software used in recording studios. I created a simple product page outlining what the videos were about and why I thought they would be helpful. I sold my first digital product on April 23, 2010, for $45 to a man from Seattle named Paul.

#6

The knowledge-commerce industry is perfect for the non-business person who wants the benefits of a business without all the fuss. It is an income stream that flows to you each and every day based on your knowledge, skills, and experience.

#7

The key to making money and building wealth in a business is to watch your expenses. The lower your overhead, the more profit you get to keep. And this is one area where a knowledge-income stream shines: the ongoing costs to keep the doors open are minimal.

#8

If you want to build a small team, you can. However, you don't need to. The business operates without employees, except for software that handles marketing, sales, product delivery, and analytics.

#9

The best thing about a knowledge-income stream is that your workload is pretty much fixed. However, your income potential is not tied to your work. It's completely independent and quite scalable. As the years go on, you will get disproportionate results for the amount of effort you put in each week.

#10

When you set things up the way I’m going to teach you, your income is not determined by when or how much you work. You can dip in and out of work whenever you like.

#11

Starting your own knowledge-income stream around what you know, love, and are good at gives you a sense of purpose. You get to create things that excite you and help others. When you are doing work that you believe in, you work harder and do it better.

#12

There are three main objections to the knowledge-income-stream: it’s too difficult, it’s not possible for you, and it’s not possible for everyone. If you can identify with any of these doubts, you’re intelligent and don’t want to waste your time on something that will fail.

#13

There are three reasons why people will be willing to pay you for your premium digital products: they are overwhelmed with content, they take information more seriously when it costs money, and they get more than just information; they get access to you, the content creator.

#14

The impostor syndrome is when you feel like a fraud, like you don’t deserve the success you’ve achieved. However, you must remember that people don’t need you to be an expert; they just need you to get them results.

#15

Everyone has something valuable to offer the world. You may not see it in yourself yet, but that’s OK. My job is to help you uncover that hidden value and turn it into a profitable income stream.

#16

In the next chapter, I’ll share my exact income model, which is based around the idea of giving rather than taking. You’ll also learn three critical truths about this type of income stream and why I’m willing to bet that if you build one, you’ll succeed.
