PRAISE FOR THE BOOK
Winning is a habit every one cherishes, whether on a playing ground or in a corporate boardroom. Great organizations/sporting teams, visionary leaders/outstanding players in both the arenas have displayed the same enduring characteristics consistently to maintain a sustained high performance. In Pitch It! Dev Prasad used fascinating stories from the cricketing world to piece together strategies that could be put to good use in a corporate warfare. An easy to read book, Pitch It! is a great compilation of winning strategies. In a country where cricket is a religion and the players demigods, any analogy with cricket is bound to draw crowds and make comprehension easy and intimate. Greatly enjoyed following winning habits through the lenses of two different arenas I love.
-K. Srinivas, President, Consumer Business, Bharti Airtel Limited
Pitch It! takes a refreshingly different route to bring home to the reader, invaluable lessons in management and leadership, by delving generously into events-some well-known and some less-that have shaped the corporate and cricketing worlds over the years. Pearls of wisdom have been neatly woven into a pleasing necklace that offers answers, ideas, and inspiration! Each pearl is a significant incident involving famous cricketing personalities placed in front of the corporate mirror, to relate to an equally significant business situation. The author deftly compares the sporting and the business worlds to draw invaluable lessons for the aspiring business leader. The real life situations and their lessons-spanning the gamut of leadership challenges-have been chosen with care and presented lucidly, to make Pitch It! an engrossing and inspirational read!

I have read many books on management and leadership and many on the game of cricket. This bold book of Dev captures in a succinct way the parallels in the game as it plays out in business. Rich in anecdotes and examples that have an ease of reading and absorbing as well, it is a great assembly of vignettes of the game and its relevance in business. Loved each chapter makes you want to go back to it each time! Unputdownable!
-S.V. Nathan, Director, Deloitte
After having hit a century on debut, with his earlier book Krishna , Dev is well on his way to become the Man of the series for enthralling us with his Pitch It! This book can well pass off as a cricket historian s and a corporate management historian s delight, with the amount of research which has gone into the fact finding and stories woven around the facts. Dev, with his unique style of writing has managed to co-relate incidents of similar nature with awesome accuracy and deep insight of the dynamics of these incidents. As a corporate manager myself, I could easily relate to most situations depicted in the book, and almost did a quick recap of my MBA course during the reading. I spent one month to read this book-slowly, but surely, like a Rahul Dravid innings, building my thoughts around and savouring each incident, and giving each one the merit it deserves. The ease with which he slices and punches the stories through the field and finds the boundaries, reminds me very much of the master blaster in action, and to coin one of Dev s own idea, very similar to a Microsoft or an Apple in winning in the corporate space.
-Girish Krishnamurthy, Global Manager, Enterprise Customer Assurance Imaging and Printing Group, Hewlett-Packard Co.
This is a book of many delights. As a die-hard cricket fan who happens to be in the management field, I found Pitch It! to be very interesting, relevant, and insightful. The parallels between incidents on the cricket field and the world of business are well developed. It is a book that will draw you in and keep you hooked.
-Shyam Vembar, Vice President, Mahindra Mahindra Ltd
The best leadership lessons are from sports. Pitch It! is an aggregation of interesting stories from cricket and the parallel drawn to a leadership trait that is so important to be successful in today s corporate world. The stories are truly compelling and well-narrated. Cricket being another religion in India, this book can be handy for leaders to connect, inspire, and motivate the young workforce of today. I would like to congratulate Dev for this unique approach of connecting with the readers through short stories on cricket and leadership.
-M.R. Srinivas Prasad, Head of Healthcare R D, Philips Innovation Campus, (Former Karnataka State and India cricketer)
