Thrival explained
The meaning of thrival needs to be explored more in order to truly understand what it means. The beginning of thrival is thriving. In order to thrive, you must do more than survive. Thrival is the ability to thrive when everybody else is just surviving. It is being able to take the bad times and thrive.
 
In today’s economy we see most companies are either flat-lining or declining. If you are able to thrive in this economic climate, you are thriving; this is what I call thrival—not just surviving like everyone else but taking the bad times and turning them into great times. That has been happening to me since January 2009. I have been able to grow my business double digits over twelve months. This is thrival! To be a part of the baby boomers’ explosion is wonderful.
 
Having the right company at the right time is necessary to create this thrival experience. Thrival is the only way to go, survival is for everybody else! Why survive when you can thrive?

I met Mark Mandela in February 2009 through my wife, Lena, who owns and operates an herb store. Because of my wife's busy schedule, she introduced me to Mark and asked me to handle the business side. My background is in wholesale men's clothing. At the time I had been traveling a five state area for 18 years and was very successful in that profession. After falling in love with the product, I decided to develop an organization with the guidance of Mark.  Mark began painting a picture of how he could see me transitioning from my traditional sales job into network marketing where I could do something I could never achieve in traditional sales; I could build a network of people (a team) that would allow me to leverage my time and build a residual income! Networking for Dummies would be another great title for this book. Mark Mandela does an excellent job explaining in layman's terms how to excel in network marketing. These principles can also be applied to improve most other areas of life. As a novice myself in networking, the development of this book with Mark has been one of the most challenging yet rewarding ventures I have ever experienced. As Mark's ghostwriter, I knew nothing about networking when he and I started this endeavor; however, my knowledge has been increased vastly through the writing of this book, through his daily mentoring calls, and through his personal mentoring. Preface
Where you are on the journey is not as significant as the fact that you have decided to embark on the journey. Now that you have initiated the journey and you are at some stage in your journey, let us focus on the important factor—whom are you bringing with you on your journey?
Wherever you find yourself in your journey, you will discover the ability to relate to one of the following characters from the movie, The Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum. Are you like Dorothy who started her journey by following directions? If you are familiar with the story, you will recall that Dorothy was instructed to travel to the Emerald City by following the yellow brick road (“Follow the yellow brick road, follow the yellow brick road, follow, follow, etc. . .”). Instead of journeying alone, she quickly invited others to join her journey to the Emerald City.
Do you identify with Dorothy as a recruiter and an encourager; or, perhaps, you relate better to the Scarecrow? Scarecrow quickly and enthusiastically linked arms with Dorothy on her journey which made it their journey. His problem was he lacked a brain. Maybe you are new to network marketing and you need knowledge. As you link arms with others, you will gain confidence through using the knowledge of others who journey with you.
Maybe you find yourself to be the Cowardly Lion. The Cowardly Lion is the person who knows he was born to lead but lacks the courage or confidence because of past failures to lead. Perhaps you resemble the Tin Man—courageous, intelligent, but heartless because your heart has been broken many times by expectations you have not met. Do you have the knowledge and the courage but lack the passion or compassion needed? You will find that the journey on the yellow brick road is the place where you need to go. Whether it is in business or your personal life, people make the journey better. People need people.
