We are surrounded by information overload, and this has created a fear of missing out. People wonder what strategy or good methodology can be found behind those success stories, and they keep looking for that one attribute or piece of wisdom that can make their lives better.

Social media also attracts those with shiny object syndrome, which is the entrepreneurial equivalent of a small child chasing after a new toy. With the information overload we currently experience, entrepreneurs see shiny object after shiny object and jump from place to place.

Information overload and knowledge overflow are the roots of FOMO and SOS. When receiving information from social media, we never know what’s real and what’s not. So much information is questionable that no one can validate what’s genuine or not.
