Sample Book Insights:
#1 I was invited to speak at the conference, and while I was nervous, I was still excited. I was nervous because people knew me as Anthony Scaramucci, not Andrew. But it didn’t matter because I was witnessing a minor miracle.
#2 I was terrified, but not panicked. I was not frozen in fear, but I was scared. I was not helpless to logic, but I was subject to seemingly unthinkable behavior. I was not unfree to adjust, but I was subject to seemingly unthinkable behavior.
#3 I knew that the only way to get the message out was to operate on the balls of my feet, not my heels. I believed that SALT would introduce SkyBridge to a critical mass of potential investors and peer managers.
#4 I proposed the first annual SALT Conference, which would serve as an industry platform. My partners voted against it, saying that it was too risky and that we didn’t know how to put it together in less than two months. But I believed in the promise of the conference, and I took control through my corporate governance agreement.

#1

I was invited to speak at the conference, and while I was nervous, I was still excited. I was nervous because people knew me as Anthony Scaramucci, not Andrew. But it didn’t matter because I was witnessing a minor miracle.

#2

I was terrified, but not panicked. I was not frozen in fear, but I was scared. I was not helpless to logic, but I was subject to seemingly unthinkable behavior. I was not unfree to adjust, but I was subject to seemingly unthinkable behavior.

#3

I knew that the only way to get the message out was to operate on the balls of my feet, not my heels. I believed that SALT would introduce SkyBridge to a critical mass of potential investors and peer managers.

#4

I proposed the first annual SALT Conference, which would serve as an industry platform. My partners voted against it, saying that it was too risky and that we didn’t know how to put it together in less than two months. But I believed in the promise of the conference, and I took control through my corporate governance agreement.

#5

I had to find a way to get Michael Milken, a hero of mine, to speak at SALT. I called him up, and explained the goals of SALT and its objectives. He interjected with insightful questions and clarifying statements. I suddenly found myself not asking but declaratively stating that I wanted him to be the inaugural keynote speaker.

#6

The SALT conference was a huge success, and it was attended by 500 people. It was packed with influential investors and asset managers.

#7

On May 9, 2009, Wynn opened his new resort. The speech struck a chord with me as I stood off stage. It made me think about where I was in my business. I wanted to grow SkyBridge beyond its narrow parameters.

#8

After the conference, I felt an inevitable sense of dread. I knew that it was time to pivot and redefine ourselves, but as what. Third-party marketers. Advisers. Conference organizers.

#9

In 2010, our small firm acquired Citigroup’s Alternative Investments Hedge Funds Management Group. As a result, the SALT Conference became even more important for us. We wanted people to recognize our brand as a household name.

#10

The stakes were high. SkyBridge was planning a conference that would bring together icons and influencers in the alternative investing industry, and Bill Clinton was on my list of speakers. I knew it would be a game changer.

#11

I was able to secure a range of high-profile guests, from world leaders to renowned investors, and leading economists.

#12

The 2010 SALT Conference was a crucial event for us, and not just because of the Citigroup deal or the resurgent stock market. CNBC was going to cover it, and they sent two of their biggest names to broadcast live from the event.

#13

I knew we needed something bigger to showcase our brand at the second SALT Conference. I wanted a wall of video screens like they have at sporting events in major stadiums.

#14

The SALT Conference was about more than just the speakers and the event itself. It was about access. People wanted insight delivered in a fun and digestible format. SALT provided that experience.
