About the
Author Omar Mohammed Al Busaidy is the Unit Head of Abu Dhabi Experience Development at the Abu Dhabi T ourism and Culture Authority . In his capacity in this role, Omar is charged with improving the experience of visitors to Abu Dhabi by developing assets and services that will attract more visitors to the destination. Al Busaidy has also been nominated to attend several leadership programs around the world, including the US, Qatar and Lebanon. A young Emirati with over 10 years of experience in corporate UAE, Omar has expanded his skills set and has grown in the sectors of banking, tourism, trade and investment. From being an advisor on business development, to advising on diplomat relations and advising on marketing strategies, Omar has worked in both the public and private sector in prestigious organizations such as the National Bank of Dubai, the Dubai Shopping Festival Of ce and the British Embassy . Additionally , Omar has been involved with several startup businesses in the UAE and neighboring country , Oman. Omar ’ s passion for delivering back to the community and his focus on the service industry have been instrumental in his growth and learning capacities. Omar ’ s input in projects has added value both nancially and in partnership building that has helped him. Al Busaidy graduated in 2009 with a B.Sc. in Marketing from the American University in Dubai. Multilingual and adventurous, Omar ’ s keen eye for business propositions has extended to his personal life where he freelanced as a radio presenter for a local radio station and he helps in organizing a number of social awareness campaigns across the UAE in his free time. Omar has three siblings and enjoys sports, reading (particularly on business leadership and politics) and internet sur ng.

Foreword Many people ask me w h y I wr ote this book, and after r eading the title “J ust Read It” they ar e intrigued and inquir e w hat it is about. W ell this is how the stor y be g an… I w ould g et in vited b y uni v ersities across the U AE to lecture on entre preneurship and to share m y personal experiences on the subject. I w ould put a couple of slides tog ether and gi v e these lectures almost ev er y month since 2010. I’ d usually star t m y lectures b y asking the students to tak e notes (whic h believ e me , is a v er y hard thing to con vince y oung people to do toda y) as I w ould ha v e more than a sentence on the slide and I’ d impro vise the rest of the time .
Just Read it! 9 One day in 2012, I had an inter esting encounter with a student at the women’ s campus of Zayed University in Abu Dhabi. After I began the session with the same r equest, “Please take down notes” a girl sitting on the fr ont r ow r eplied, “Sir! Why don’ t you write a book?” I asked her why she thought that, and she said, “I tend to r ead mor e than I write, and since you have so much to say I would love to r ead your book.” Regar ding the title of the book well, I was discussing it with my friend Nouf Al Hashemi and I wasn’ t sur e what to call the book because it touches upon so many points r egar ding emotional and social intelligence. I told her that it was har d to give it a title and that I just want people to r ead the book. She said, “Ok, so why don’ t you just call it Just Read It?” When people ask me what it is that I want to achieve in life, I always tell them that I want to be able to make positive change in spite of all the issues that the world faces today . If I am able to shar e knowledge and experience with others; to inspir e them, and help them make better infor med decisions - that would make my day! I thought to myself for a moment and I told the class right then that I would write the book. T wo years later her e it is.
