101 Ways to Profit
Now it’s time for your Game Plan!
Introduction
African American wome n spend countless dollars on their hair and beau t y needs each y ea r . The hair care and beauty industry is a multi-billion dollar a year industry. The world is constantly trending and introducing new techniques, new technology and new ways to enjoy a more fulfilling and e x citing lif e of beau t y . New idea s are constantly em e rging, aimed at our feeling bette r , lookin g better and enhancing our beauty.
I often say to myself, what makes me different from that beauty supply store owner who earns thousands of dollars each day? What makes me different from the woman who styles her hair so beautifully that by the time she reaches her destination, five people have already complimented her on her noticeable style? Nothing (that matters) makes me different! And nothing (that matters) makes YOU different! We must look deep within ourselves and find what works best for us and take advantage of every opportunity. The journey of our lives is what makes tomorrow possible. You should appreciate the events that have brought you to this point and revel in the fact that there is so much more in store for you.
I was born in Bradenton, Florida to a middle class household. My parents set great examples for me. My fa t her w as an educat o r and athletic coach. My mother i s a school cafeteria manage r . Growing up, I watched my parents work diligently to keep as much a stable household as possible. I don’t remember a childhood absent of the necessities that cultivated positive growth. I was one of six children and learned many valuable lessons in my youth that would fuel and shape my personal and professional evolution. My father was both industrious and civic minded. My mother has always been hard working and deliberate in her commitment to the welfare of her children. From their guidance,
I learned the importance of a formal education, perseverance and a necessity to have compassion for others.
As a child, I spent time determining what I believed I wanted to be and do with my adult life. After high school, I enlisted in the United Sates Air Force. Upon completing eight years of military service, I applied for and was granted admission to Clemson University. I graduated from Clemson with a Bachelor of Arts in Special Education and later earned a Master of Science degree in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University. Although I maintained professional employment in my chosen field of study and made continual advancement, I longed for something that would provide additional challenges and reward what I now recognize as my entrepreneurial spirit.
Cosmetology became the catalyst and fed my appetite for change. After 14 years in the field of education, I stepped out on faith, my belief and confidence in my own talent and decided to leave my $75,000 administrator salary. Despite the gravity of my decision and many who could not understand the immensity of my dream, I pushed forward. Armed with those early life lessons, my mother’s support, my experiences and my faith, I sincerely believed that God had something greater in store for me. I continued to pursue my dreams and haven’t looked back since.
In a short time, my business grew tremendously! It exceeded my initial expectations and provided a myriad of rewards for my hard work. As with many whose journeys, despite differences are simil a r , m y appetite for personal growth and challenge continue to launc h me i n the direction of additional and diverse pursuits. I continually welcome change. I enjoy the e xploration of new things and t he personal satisfaction of simply giving my all to those things that motivate and inspire me. I now have embarked on another journey aimed at motivating, educating and inspiring others to their full potential. With that said, my goal with this book, is to assist you to move closer toward your desired goals. If you have a specific dream or not sure what your next step should be, use your life experiences, the information in this book and your drive to succeed to help propel you to the next level!

Dolls by MonTQ
Her Story…
Ms. Montegut adores textiles. When she decided to make dolls, her use of wools, tweeds, and corduroys just made sense. Ms. Montegut’s first doll was made from her favorite wool pants that she could no longer fit but refused to throw away! Her first doll’s name was Johanna, named after the great grandmother she’d never met. She received such a warm reception that she decided to create Art Dolls. Over time, she began to realize that dolls are much more than just a plaything. Historically, they are an expression of people and their cultures. Ms. Montegut says that her inspiration comes from the folks she’s met in her lifetime and she feels honored to capture just a glimpse of their spirit and pass it forward. Ms. Montegut is a Textile Doll Artist who utilizes mostly natural fibers and recycled items to form her creations.
Dolls by MonTQ are sold exclusively on Etsy.com.
