Introduction
Basic tools you will need to make cocktails are -
A cocktail shaker
A ‘measure’ container (actually called a jigger) which measures out 45ml (that’s 1 ½ fl oz or 3 tablespoons of liquid).
A fine sieve, preferably one especially made for cocktails!
Assorted things you will need are -
Tall glasses
Tumblers
Cocktail glasses with stems
A few other types of glasses are also used but these would be ones like wine glasses you might already have.
Ingredients include ones you might have at home already, although some you might have to buy in. I have however tried to pick recipes which use fairly common ingredients, as this is a quick cocktail book. Hopefully, anyone picking this book up should be able to make some of the recipes straight away if you have the right tools!
I suggest you read the recipes before having a night of cocktail making with your friends to pick out the ones you might like to try and then ensure you have all the things you need to hand beforehand.
Most cocktails are shaken in the cocktail shaker with ice and then strained into the glasses, but some are stirred so make sure you read the simple quick instructions before making the drink.
Most of all - Please ensure you drink sensibly

Number 1 – Astoria
2 measures of Gin
1 dash of Orange Bitters
1 measure of Dry Vermouth
Shake all the ingredients together with ice, and strain into the cocktail glass.
