Description

Lord Theodore Olden counts it a blessing when his old friend Bjorn the Brave arrives at the celebration of his eldest son's betrothal. Soon after his arrival, demons from Bjorn's past come back to haunt him. To this day, he knows not of who murdered his family, with only his daughter spared from the attacks on his house and a son who is seemingly back from the dead. Both houses encounter a plague of demons that were thought long gone in their quest to get to the truth and to restore Bjorn's family to their throne. For their involvement with the Vikings, bandits and mercenaries attack house Olden, leaving the house divided between their loyalties to their ally and protecting their own family. The family of cursed Vikings must find a way to beat the odds once again and to recruit new allies to take back what was stolen from them.

House Olden
In the years of old, House Olden is well known for its courage and strength on the battlefield. Castle Mourne is located on the base of a mountain with great stone walls that rise up into the sky and stretch as far as the eye can see. The weather is often cold and damp, despite the blue sky that hangs above the land. The sun lights up the land for miles, emerald green fields shine in the daylight, acres of land sit quietly where the farmers grow their crops. Sheep, pigs and cows fill the farmlands that sit beneath the graceful rolling hills of the mountain. The scent of freshly cut grass and fertiliser from the nearby farms fill the air. A narrow road that can only fit two horses side by side stretches through the middle of the land which separates the animals from the crops, leading to a herd of trees framing the village.
The closer to the village you get, the less greenery can be seen. The beautiful land has been converted to stone buildings and dirt roads, a mixture of smoke and fresh baked goods now fill the air, the small folk flood the streets with laughter and tales of their ancestors and past battles. This land is a sanctuary for many and they all thank the Lord of the land Theodore Olden.
Theodore is a tall man standing at six foot four, he is fair skinned with dark hazel brown hair and chestnut brown eyes. He always has himself well presented and maintains a tightly trimmed beard and tidy poker straight hair that stops just before his shoulders. He is an amicable man, who is known to joke with his men and also reward their hard work. Theodore is extremely strict when it comes to the upkeep of his land, training his men for battle and raising his four children. He is loved by his people as he is fair and kind to the small folk, who have not been as lucky as he, with titles and wealth, but he knows without the small folk he would not be able to rule his land as they provide the food and fuel needed for the survival of the house.
As a youth, Theodore famously saved Richard Byrnell’s life at the battle of RoseFort, to help secure Geoffrey Draconian’s place as the rightful Lord to the Land. As a reward for his courage, Richard promoted Theodore from his squire to one of his soldiers. Theodore excelled with his marksmanship and fought ferociously in hand to hand combat, a born leader that was not to be trifled with.
When Jamie Olden, Theodore’s father passed away, he ascended to Lordship and married Mary Byrnell, a sallow skin, thin woman with a long neck and light brown hair with eyes to match. She is bred well to be the wife of a Lord, but is far more serious than that of her husband, she also happens to be Richard’s younger sister forming a strong Allianz between both houses. Quickly after the marriage, Mary became pregnant and later gave birth to their first born son Nicholas. Mary is known for jealously guarding her children. Their safety is her top priority alongside their education.
Growing up, Nicholas was groomed to be the Future Lord of house Olden, training since the age of seven to take the burden of leadership. As he grew older, he was known to be extremely intimidating both on and off the battlefield. A very confident young man who took on a lot of his father’s traits both in appearance and personality.
Nicholas stands at six foot five, he towers over most of his father’s men, his svelte frame makes him appear taller to some. His angelic face, dark brown hair and blue eyes are indeed enough to make the ladies of the land swoon, he makes friends easily as like his father, he jokes around with the men quite often. Strict on his routine with himself and his men, he is known to be one of the best soldiers in the land as he serves as his father’s banner man, knowing one day he will have to lead his father’s men and their sons when he becomes Lord of House Olden.
When the Banners of war are called by his Uncle Richard, Nicholas is the first to go riding out with his father’s army into battle with such force that he is now feared by rival houses and he has earned the name Nicholas the courageous (often referred to as Lion heart); a reputation he knows makes his parents proud. Unlike his younger siblings, Nicholas does not have as much freedom as them, everything in his life has been carefully picked out for him; his education, clothes, right down to his future wife. He knows his mother has been carefully looking at surrounding houses, trying to choose who she thinks the perfect woman is for her son.
Finn Olden is the second born son to house Olden. He is quick to temper and quite rebellious with a reputation for having a vulgar mouth which generally ends with him brawling in taverns, sleeping with whores and any woman that strays from their husband, sneaking out at night and generally finding ways to anger his father. After he was caught stumbling out of the millers wife’s chambers, Theodore had no choice but to have his son receive twenty lashes across his back, the scars now serve as a caution to avoid sleeping with another man’s wife or his punishment next time will prove to be far worse.
When his younger sister Cara-Lea was being tormented by the pig farmer’s son, he grabbed him by the neck and beat the boy until he was unrecognisable to his own mother, while his father was vexed at his actions he was also proud at how Finn stood up for his younger sister.
An expert swordsman, some say a born killer, what he lacks in patience he makes up for with his skills in combat. Finn stands at a shorter six foot two than that of his brother and father; however, his broad muscular build along with his speed are enough to deter much unwanted attention, as not many men dared to anger him. His dishevelled dirty blonde hair and celestial blue eyes mixed with his charm and quick wit proved him hard to resist, although with the reputation of a Brute, he has a heart of gold with a loyalty to his family which never wavers. Finn loves his family dearly, although he resents his older brother Nicholas for being the apple of his father’s eye. Theodore always seemed to favour Nicholas above Finn even when they were little, the only way Finn learned to get his father’s attention successfully is to act out, he never minds the punishments, it is the only time his father truly seems to take interest in him. His mother worries that she may never find a suitor for him as most of the surrounding houses fear him and do not want their daughters to wed somebody as unpredictable and uncontrollable as Finn Olden.
Edward and Cara-Lea are the third born children to Theodore and Mary Olden. Edward, unlike his brothers is more of an intellectual than a fighter, he is tall for his age with light brown hair and brown eyes. He aspires to be like his father yet has no intention to fight on the battlefield. He takes comfort in the safety of his books, Edward would much rather be lost in the tales of battles than actually participate in one. His sister Cara-Lea is known for her musical talents and her priority to put the family above everything else. Known also for her stubborn personality and intellect, like her twin, she is often found with her head in a book. Both Edward and Cara-Lea resemble their mother more than Nicholas and Finn.
Edward looks up to Nicholas and his father, he will often follow them around to hear the fascinating tales of battle they had to tell, he loves the strategy of it all, being able to out-smart the enemy and lure them into traps, which means less death on your houses end. He will listen and take notes from his father and brother, learning all he can about every other house. If he has to serve as his brothers banner man one day, he will surely be well equipped with knowledge of how they fight and how to defeat them.
Cara-Lea is a soft spoken girl, a young beauty with the voice of an angel, she often makes up songs and preforms t
