Description

This story takes place in a land of kingdoms and magic good and bad. 1 kingdom stands out from the others, Magique, the oldest out of the 5 kingdoms of the land, and most mysterious too. Ages ago, the king of Magique fell in love with a powerful witch, but she didn’t return his affections and was in-love with another. In his rage he sent his armies to get her but she fought back and had perished in the battle. What remained of her was a staff and an infant with violet eyes, crying within the wreckage. The remaining soldiers took both the infant girl and the staff to the back to the king. Instead of a queen he was given a princess instead. He kept her a secret from the rest of the world and raised her as his own ever since, with the child being known the wiser and the lie of her being the only one with magic and if she were to leave, she would be hunted, this is her story.

CHAPTER 1
The Princess
Sixteen Years Later
It is morning in the kingdom of Magique, and the handmaiden Jessie, also lady-in-waiting, yells at the door, “Princess Lynn, Lynn! It’s time to wake up! Come on, Lynn, you know how Madam B gets when you’re late. LYNN! Don’t make me kick the door down. You know I can—one, two, three!”
( SLAM )
Lynn sits up and says with a tired expression, “You know, Jess, you’ll have to fix that later, right?”
Jessie replies, “I’m aware of that, but right now, we have to get you ready for today’s lessons. As your instructor, Madam B, demands your presence.”
“Jess, you know I’m all about improving my magic with an old librarian, but as a princess, I think I can take a day off,” says Lynn.
Jessie replies, “Yes, but as the king, your father can overthrow that order, and he demands you to practice at the crack of dawn.”
“And you wonder why I think he’s unreasonable,” says Lynn.
Jessie goes through Lynn’s wardrobe for clothes and says, “At least we know where you got your personality from.”
Lynn gets out of bed and replies sarcastically, “Ha ha, all right, just give me a minute to freshen up and feed Lucy.”
Jessie looks at Lynn feeding the oddly colored crow and says, “You’re still feeding that dirty crow, and I heard that if a young lady mingles with crows, it means they’re a wicked witch.”
Lynn replies, “Don’t we already know I’m a witch, just minus the wicked part.”
Jessie gets annoyed and says, “We’re getting off topic, get dressed or I’ll get you dressed myself!”
“OK, OK, I’m getting ready, don’t get crazy,” said Lynn.
Lynn attempts to conjure a small breeze with magic by swaying her fingers, but fails.
Lynn sighs.
Jessie looks at Lynn and comforts her by saying, “It looked like you almost had it.”
Lynn looks at Jessie with annoyance.
Jessie then says, “Don’t worry, you’ll get it . . . eventually. Come on, let’s get this over with and head to the garden.”
Lynn replies, “B chose the garden again.”
“She knows you have a strange connection with the garden,” says Jessie.
“I know, but I don’t like it. Every time we do it in the garden, I get goosebumps, especially next to the lavenders,” says Lynn.
Jessie encourages Lynn by saying, “Well, let’s just get this over with, and then we can begin weapons training. I heard the blacksmith just made a line of swords.”
Lynn gets ready that much sooner and excitedly says, “Well, now I’m convinced. Let’s go.”
* * *
Lynn and Jessie arrive at the garden and are now in the middle of a lesson with Madam B, who says, “Now that you’ve finally decided to come down, we can begin. Feel the grass from the garden, use every feeling in your body, smell the air, and focus your mind and picture it coming in. You have magic, question is, When, where, and why will it emerge? Now tell me, what do you feel?”
With her legs crossed, Lynn answers, “I got nothing. Wait, wait . . . nothing.”
Jessie says with a humorous tone, “For someone who’s supposed to have magic, you really don’t do anything that magical.”
“I realize that. Ugh, I don’t know why everyone thinks I have that much magic, even though I’ve never actually done anything to say otherwise,” Lynn says with an aggravated tone.
Madam B looks at her books and says, “Because to what your father described, your mother was a very powerful sorceress, and it should’ve been passed on to you. Now, I may not be magic, but the king, your father, didn’t track me down from an old library to teach you for nothing. I know a thing or two about people with magic, and I can just feel that you have it.”
Lynn calms down and says, “Thank you, Madam, but I’m not sure. The closest thing I’ve ever done that’s magic is a few glowing circles in the air ( air-quote ), levitating my hairbrush, and no dreams.”
“I’ve also seen you glowing and in your sleep,” says Jessie.
“I’m wondering how many times you’ve been watching me in my sleep,” says Lynn.
“Hush now, focus,” says Madam B.
Lynn says with a snarky tone, “Yes, Madam Jailer.”
“What was that?” asks Madam B.
“Nothing,” says Lynn.
Madam B says to Lynn, “Your father has half the castle silent for a limited time, so focus! Sit down, cross your legs, close your eyes, feel the breeze, and breathe.”
( WHISPERS )
Lynn hears a whisper in her ears and asks, “What was that?”
Jessie hears nothing and answers, “What was what? You trying to pull something again?”
“No, seriously, I heard something. It sounded familiar, but I don’t know what,” says Lynn.
Madam B asks Lynn with concern, “Are you really hearing something? What did it sound like?”
“Well, nothing now, and I didn’t really hear anything, just a whisper,” says Lynn.
“Hmm, all right, we might be getting somewhere, try listening again,” says Madam B.
Lynn crosses her legs again, then closes her eyes and tries to listen. “All right, but I . . . Wait.”
( Screams )
All of a sudden, Lynn starts screaming, and her eyes glow an intense violet color. Lynn falls on her back and and covers her ears with both hands. Jessie immediately goes to Lynn’s aid and shouts, “Lynn, Lynn, what’s wrong!”
“You don’t hear that—ahh, make it stop!”
Madam B reacts and goes to Lynn’s side and shouts, “Jessie, out of the way. Lynn, Lynn, darling, can you still hear me?”
Lynn struggles to hear but is able to say, “Yes, but barely.”
Frantic to help Lynn, Madam B says to her, “Lynn, I need you to listen to me now and do exactly what I say, dear.”
Lynn’s ears begin to bleed as waves of power start surging in her body. Jessie awaits in the background, feeling powerless to do anything as her friend writhes in pain, until—
( Bang )
Suddenly, a singular wave turns into an explosion; both Madam B and Jessie fly off the ground and slam against the wall. The dust clears, and Lynn begins to regain consciousness with a slight ringing in her ears. Disoriented Lynn shouts.
“Jess, B, where are you, guys? Jessie!”
Jessie replies to Lynn, “Lynn, Lynn, over here, it’s B, she’s hurt.”
Lynn sees Madam B unconscious on the ground and shouts, “Oh my god, B! Guards, guards, come help, guards!”
As the guards march their way into the garden, Madam B looks at Lynn as if she’s trying to say something.
“Lynn . . . Lynn . . . Dear, I need you to hear something, you are not the only . . .”
Lynn struggles to understand what Madam B is trying to tell her and shouts, “B, B, stay with us. I’m not the only what? What is that supposed to mean, B!”
As the guards carefully take Madam B, Lynn and Jess look on with worry and fear of what could happen.
* * *
Lynn and Jess are in the library, waiting for news on B and thinking about what happened in the garden.
Jessie looks at Lynn and says, “So are we going to talk about it?”
Lynn answers, “Talk about what?”
Jessie answers Lynn, “I don’t know, maybe the fact that you were a living explosion and literally blew both me and B away. Lynn, what was that?”
Frustrated, Lynn answers, “I don’t know what it was! I’ve never done that before. But what happened in the garden, I don’t know, it felt like all of a sudden, I just . . . my head just cracked open, and I released something.”
Curious on the topic, Jessie asks, “Released what?”
Lynn answers, “I don’t know. I never felt like that, it’s like I had an ache that finally snapped, and
