Amalthean Quest Update
At the end of the second voyage Amalthea Two had been taken over by Chief Barnford by orders of the Enlopedian Council for Voyages, Missions and Assignments. Carlyle Cartarn in particular. But halfway to the headquarters base Chief Barnford had to leave the cruiser and head back to Enlopedia. An emergency had arisen which was far greater than the simple impounding of Amalthea Two. He was picked up by a passing Patrol Cruiser and flown on at high speed back to take charge of what he considered a tricky situation. His orders had come straight from Admiral Traun, telling him that he wanted him back as soon as possible. He left Amalthea under the leadership of Tayce to return to Enlopedia, even though it was very much against her principles to do so. She had to even though she didn’t want to; otherwise she could have been thrown into the Enlopedian detention building for breaking rules.
As far as Dairan, Tayce and Marc were concerned, there seemed to be an influence a lot deeper than that of the normal council, over the cancellation of the Amalthean Quests voyage. But who and why? All the Amalthean team, after a meeting in the DC, decided they were going to get to the bottom of this suspicious deep undercover influence over the continuation of the Amalthean Quests. By unanimous vote the whole team decided they would be continuing on with the trip back to Enlopedia.
But what was about to unfold on the final stages of the journey? Would they make it?
1. Resurgence, Part One
In a stationary orbit it sat lifeless and scorched, obviously the victim of a ‘fall-on’ attack. The words to identify this vessel were half scorched away. All that remained were the letters to form the name ‘-THEA TWO’. On board this vessel, starting from what would have been the main Operations Centre and travelling through to the bow, was a scene of bloodied devastation. Members of the crew that normally undertook their every-dayon duties in the main operations centre of the vessel were now sprawled in different positions, over the surface of their consoles or on the deck floor, bleeding or dead. Some were lying where they had been struck down by whatever had boarded the vessel. Their injuries were the kind to signify they had each put up one hell of a struggle to try and stay alive. In the doorway leading to an obvious meeting room lay a young shapely woman of elegant beauty, her uniform scorched here and there, her face showing cuts and bruising. Was she unconscious or dead? It was guessed she had emerged from the meeting room to confront her on-board intruders, to be struck down in mid stride. Level by level - Medical, Science and Weaponry - the members of this crew were as the members were in the main operations centre, unconscious or dead. ‘Thea Two’ was not far short of an abandoned ghost ship, if it hadn’t been for the crew. There was a faint beeping sound to signify a distress beacon was sending out a distress signal to any passing vessels, or hoped-for rescuers, who might be in the area. The signal would transmit all the way to the main headquarters base, to be alerted that an extreme emergency had occurred on board this vessel. But woul
