DarQuise

I watched the truck speed off in front of us. Nigga didn’t die. I shot that bitch up, getting my revenge for Shoney. I was gon’ follow him, but I heard sirens and cut down a side street then stopped once I felt far enough away. I turned to December, who was hysterical at this point.
“You fuckin’ crazy?” I shouted at December while she kept crying. Fuck them tears, she could have gotten killed.
“Thea,” she cried.
“I’m sorry about your friend, but you could have been laid out with her ass if I ain’t follow you. You ain’t need the money. You know I would have taken care of you!” I continued to shout.
I was so pissed off at her.
“I get it, mufucka! But my friend is dead. You think I wanna hear this shit?” she said and pushed me.
“I don’t give a fuck what you wanna hear, shorty, you gon’ fuckin’ hear it,” I said and grabbed her arm.
“Don’t fuckin’ touch me!” she screamed and jumped out.
I let her walk off before I jumped out and realized she had me fucked up.
“Get your mufuckin’ ass back over here! Ion wanna lay hands on you, but you for real pushin’ the wrong fuckin’ buttons.” I walked up and turned her around. “Bitch, I love yo ass. You think I wanna see you hurt over some lil money? Swear if you don’t bring your ass back to the truck, we gon’ put on a show out this mufucka.” I looked at her seriously.
She stared at me angrily and stomped back to my ride.
I got in the driver seat and slammed the door then zoomed off down the street and took Pennsylvania Ave all the way down in silence. I looked at my ashtray and saw that I had a blunt that I tapped out last night. I grabbed it and lit it.
“Smoke.” I handed her the weed, and she looked out the window like she hadn’t heard me. “Here, calm your nerves.” I grabbed her hand and placed the blunt between her fingers.
“She was my best friend. She was the only person who was with me all those years.” She slapped her hand on her forehead.
“I’m sorry, December.” I rubbed her back with my free hand.
I knew what it was to lose a friend, and the shit was rough.
“Can you take me home?” she said, still crying.
“I ain’t about to let you be alone. Come to my house,” I told her.
“Okay,” she simply said and lay back in the seat.
It was quiet the rest of the drive, and when we pulled up to my house, she was sleeping. I loved the hell out her, but I felt betrayed in a way. It made me wonder if she really wasn’t the same person, but seeing her reaction let me know she wasn’t built for that shit anyway.
“Wake up, ma.” I gently shook her.
“I’m up,” she said groggily.
I saw that my lights were on, and I knew the fuck I didn’t leave them that way. I grabbed my gun out the glove box, and December looked alarmed.
“Stay behind me, baby,” I told her as I walked to my door and noticed it was slightly open.
I pushed it and saw Kalif on the couch watching cartoons.
“What the fuck?” I said, now hearing Marsia in the kitchen.
“Bitch, yes!” I heard her laughing. She was on the phone and cooking like the fuck she lived there. I let her stay that one night, and she went the fuck home. Now she had popped the fuck up again.
“Why you in my house?” I asked her.
She jumped and dropped the large spoon that she held.
“I let myself in. I know you keep a spare in the light.” She smiled but then frowned.
I turned to see what she was frowning at, and it was December.
“This the hoe from back in the day! Ohh, you look rough, honey.” She grabbed a paper towel, put on a petty smirk and tried to hand it to December.
“Bitch, my friend died. What’s your excuse? Ughh, and your edges all snatched the fuck off. Hoe, you busted as fuck,” December screamed like she was ready to tag her.
“Look, you need to get the fuck out. My son can stay, but you gotta go. Don’t ever come in my house like that again,” I barked at Marsia.
“Oh, hell nah, I know you ain’t about to fake on me cuz this bitch done dragged out the hole and showed face. I made you dinner and shit, and this all the fuckin’ thanks I get? Your ass to kiss?” Marsia yelled.
I looked in the pot and saw what looked like shrimp alfredo until I realized it was hot dogs instead of shrimp.
“Aye yung, like for real, the fuck is that, man? Even if I wanted to fuck with you, all chances would be dead tryna give a nigga food poisoning.”
December snickered.
“Fuck you laughing at, hoe!” she got hype. December stepped up but I pulled her back.
“Bitch look, I ain’t about to do this shit in front of Kalif. Get the fuck out my house, and if I gotta tell you one more time, I’ma drag you out,” I told her, meaning every word.
“Hey lil man.” December sniffled and wiped her face when Kalif came in.
“You look like a TV woman,” Kalif said to December. She burst out laughing and hugged him tight.
“Thank you. You are as handsome as your daddy, I see,” she replied.
“Bitch, gimme my son. The fuck?” Marsia snatched Kalif out of December’s arms.
“I see you ain’t learn from that first ass whoopin’. Know what? Quise, I’ma go jump in the shower. I ain’t feelin’ this shit. I’ma be in the bed, baby.” December kissed me, and I could feel the steam coming off Marsia.
“Mmm. Quise, I was gon’ try to make this shit work, bu—”
“Make what work?” I looked at her like she was crazy.
“Us, we could be a family and shit, but you’d rather chase old bitches.” She pushed past me.
“You need to stop smokin’. Sit my son down,” I told her.
She swung around.
“You think I’m really gon’ let my son stay here with that bitch? No.” She tried to walk out.
“I ain’t gon’ use words this time.” I folded my arms, and she sat Khi down.
“I’ll bring him home tomorrow,” I said and she walked out the door without another word.
“I thought you was jumpin’ in the shower,” I asked, walking up to her.
“I was, but I can’t even think straight, Quise.” She looked like she had just lost of all energy.
“Just go ahead and lay down. I’ma be up there in a minute.” I grabbed her hands.
“I don’t know what I was thinking,” she cried into my chest.
I didn’t even know how to respond to that because I was pissed that she put herself in that type of fucked up danger when I could have given her whatever she needed.
“I’ma go run you a bath anyway, aight.”
I grabbed her hand and walked her upstairs. Then I stopped at the closet and grabbed the Victoria secret bag. I got Ashley to grab this shit yesterday, and I meant to give it to her, but she came for some dick and I forgot.
“Dang, you always got what I need on deck.” She wiped her eyes.
“Yes, some bombs or some shit and bubble bath,” I said, and she giggled.
“Bath bombs.” She laughed.
“You knew what the hell I meant.”
I turned the bathtub on and poured the bubble bath in. December started undressing, and I couldn’t help but take her body in because I knew she wasn’t thinking about no sex after what just happened.
“You a good dude, but call me a bitch again, and I’ma fight you like a nigga.” She kissed me and sat on my knee.
“Yeah, aight. I don’t want you fuckin’ around like that again. I’m still pissed the fuck off, tho. Believe that shit.” I got up when I saw the water in the tub rising.
“I’m sorry, Quise.” She looked down.
“I know you are, shorty. Just trust I got you, aight. Don’t hide shit from me, and I won’t hide shit from you,” I let her know. “Go ahead and get in,” I said and hit the radio for her then set the remote on the side of the tub.
“You still l
