Royal

“I don’t know what the fuck is going on but I will be paying Wesley a visit today,” I yelled, pissed about the fact that King had been arrested over some bullshit.
I was on the phone with our lawyer Lydia Price and she was trying to get as much information as possible before she was on her way to try and get King out.
“Wesley took a leave of absence. He hasn’t been in the office in over a month,” Lydia said calmly.
She knew that I was a loose cannon. I could tell she was attempting to keep me neutralized so that she wouldn’t have to figure out how to get two of us out of lockup.
“Look Royal, just let me go see what they have on him and I’ll get back to you. I shouldn’t have any issues getting him out even if it’s just on bail. King's record is clean. Stay away from Wesley. I can’t focus on King if I have to worry about you trying to handle the District Attorney. Are we clear?”
“For now but he’s on borrowed time,” I said, letting Lydia know that she needed to work fast or I would be taking control of this situation. She let out a long sigh before she spoke again.
“Just give me an hour Royal. I’ll get back to you with the details but I need you to stay out of the way and let me do what you pay me to do.”
“Borrowed time Lydia. I mean that shit,” I said one last time before I hung up the phone.
Wesley was walking on thin ice. Even if he wasn’t able to squash this shit, which he should have been, then at the very least he should have given us a heads up. At least then we could have been in the streets trying to figure out what the fuck was going on. If Sen was missing then we might have already found her ass by now and dealt with this shit. I knew her dumb ass had to be in hiding after she tried to set King up on some bullshit for DJ.
When I pulled up at King’s house I sat there for a minute to get my head right before I had to go inside and talk to Free and Mira. King told Free not to tell Mira where he was but I knew that Free was stressed the fuck out. She was too damn calm when she called to let me know that King had been arrested. Too damn calm. I knew that something was about to go down with her and I had to make sure I could handle it since King was caught up in this bullshit. After Free checked out on us when she found out about her father there was no telling what state of mind she was going to be in. The fact that King was arrested and could possibly end up doing time over Sen’s stupid ass was not a conversation that I wanted to have with Free.
After I had my head right, I climbed out of my Charger and made my way to the front door. I placed my palm on the scanner next to the door and then keyed my security code to open it.
King was on some Inspector Gadget type shit after the whole Money situation happened so he had Trevor install all types of high tech security around the house to make sure the only people who had access to his home were the people he approved of.
“Front door open.” Once I was inside I found Free standing in the doorway of the living room waiting for me. I walked over and gave her a hug before I kissed her on the cheek.
“How you holding up sis?” I asked as I followed her into the living room. She sat down on the sofa and I found a spot right next to her.
“I’m good. Did you find out anything?” she asked, now looking me in my eyes. She was extremely calm which was making me nervous as hell because I was honestly expecting a meltdown.
“Not really. Lydia is on her way down there so I’m sure she’ll hit me up as soon as she knows anything.”
Free sat there for a minute without saying anything before she stood up and propped her arms up on her basketball-sized stomach.
“I just cant sit here and do nothing Royal,” Free said, staring right into my eyes.
Shit, I felt the same way but there wasn’t anything that either one of us could do to help the situation right now. I needed to hear from Lydia to see what they actually had on him before I could make any moves so my hands were tied. Hell, I didn’t even have Sen’s number so I couldn’t even start trying to find her ass. I was basically fucked until I could talk to King and that conversation wasn’t happening while his ass was in lock up even if I could get to him.
“Look baby girl, that’s all we can do right now.” I could hear the words that I was saying but I wasn’t anymore convinced than she was which was evident from the look on her face.
“Yeah I guess.”
Free’s words didn’t sit right with me. It was like she didn’t have faith in me and that shit wasn’t okay. It had me feeling like I was letting her down which meant that I was letting King down. It was my job to keep shit together with Free while King was caught up in this bullshit and couldn’t.
“I need to make a run to go check on a few things. You gonna be good until I get back?”
Fuck it, I had never been the type to sit and wait for shit to happen and now wasn’t the time to start. I needed to start trying to figure this shit out.
Free looked at me for a quick second then spoke.
“Yeah I’m good.”
I watched her face for a few minutes trying to see if she meant it before she gave me a half smile and hugged me.
“I’m good Royal. Go handle your business but hurry back. I’m about to cook dinner and you can eat with me and Mira while we wait to find out what’s going on with Dey.”
I didn’t believe her but I needed to pop up on Wesley so I had to let it go for now.
“A’ight, I shouldn’t be long and if you need anything before I get back just hit me up.”
I kissed her on the forehead and rubbed her stomach before heading to the door. I needed some answers and Wesley was about to give them to me.
As soon as I pulled up at Wesley’s house I got amped as fuck. Just being there pissed me off because I knew that mothafucker dropped the ball on some sneaky ass shit. I was convinced that was the reason why he didn’t give us a heads up about this whole Sen missing bullshit.
It was just after 6:00 so it was still light outside but I didn’t give a fuck. I was getting answers or Wesley was catching a hot one. I knew that I was taking a chance of being seen by one of his neighbors but fuck it; the whole damn neighborhood would come up missing if them bitches felt the need to run their damn mouths about seeing me here. I needed answers.
As soon as I was on the front porch I held my piece close to my thigh and turned the doorknob.
“Stupid mothafuckers always leaving their shit unlocked,” I mumbled with a smile as I stepped inside.
I had never been here before so I didn’t know shit about this house but the first thing I noticed was a large portrait of Free, with her mother and Wesley’s bitch ass standing behind her. Free was a carbon copy of her mother. I just shook my head. Some motherfuckers simply didn’t deserve the privileges they had in their lives and Wesley definitely didn’t deserve his wife and daughter.
Seeing that picture had me in my feelings about my own family. My mother wasn’t shit and never really appreciated having my father. He loved her trifling ass and all she did was fuck him over. I just didn’t understand that shit but fuck it, it was what it was.
I knew that was the reason why I refused to let myself get too close to any one woman. In my mind they would end up like my mother and that shit wasn’t worth the trouble it caused. Lately I felt myself going there with Lace which was one of the main reasons why I made sure I kept a few bitches on the side. They kept me grounded every time I felt myself falling into deep with Lace.
Don’t get me wrong; they didn’t mean shit to m
