INSURGENTS HQ
Mogadishu - Hotel
The Staccato blasts of C4 detonated explosions followed the Navy Seals beyond the rusted iron gates, blowing them off their hinges, as the blast pressured sand scoured the faces and clothing of the running Seals laden with weapons, bagged laptops, Satphones and encrypted intelligence paperwork, some scattered and shredded by the blast from a dropped bag.
The basement walls fractured sporadically along the wall, blowing bricks, reinforcing rods, concrete and stored incendiary munitions, gunpowder, barrels of pitch, and phosphorous flares into the tunnel between the brick pillars. Projectiles embedding in barrels and broken timber posts supporting the tunnel complex.
Abu Shekau’s round dark wet face rose from the shallow well, his thick lips spitting and coughing water, sand, dust and fumes, from where the explosive pressure had flung him. He reached the smoking body of Omar Kareem, screaming with pain from pitch and phosphor burns. Shekau threw a bucket of sandy water from the well, over Kareem, washing and dislodging the burning pitch, and phosphorous with a reinforcing rod, pulled from a nearby barrel.
Abu Shekau, in his wet dusty camouflage uniform, grunted with the exersion as he raised the semi clad uniformed, unconscious smoking form across his massive shoulders, staggered and called to his escort of body guards, and medic to help man handle Kareem to the motorized rail trolley in the tunnel, used to transport equipment, and food supplies from the port of Mogadishu, on the underground rail to the hotel that Shekau and his men had arrived on, after securing the stolen trucks at the port.
Abu Shekau’s Sikorski chopper pilot responded at the sight of the fighters and the still, bandaged form on the stretcher, by starting the chopper turbines, whining the Sikorski to full power as Abu Shekau arrived with the rest of his disparate team of raggedy fighters in the stolen trucks.
The pressganged ilclad boy fighters from a variety of African backgrounds, and villages, run the stretchered form of a barely recognisable Omar Kareem to the Sikorski, securing the stretchered twitching bandaged form with straps over the silver insulating cover. The first aid kit of saline fluids, bandages, cannulas and syringes, laid out by the failed medical student, boy fighter who expertly applied cannulas for the fluids drip, hung above on the chair frame of the ascending Sikorski Chopper.
The trucks would follow by road to the Ethiopian border, eventually to Cameroun.
The stolen trucks splashed noisily into the enclosed Hospital compound forming a protective circle around the Hospital perimeter. The Kalashnikov armed fighters had finally arrived to support Abu Shekau at the Hospital, the older experienced fighters scrambled down from the trucks taking up strategic positions around the hospital compound in the steamy Monsoon rain.
The sweating, alarmed dark face, of the white dust coated Cameroun Doctor refocused his eyes behind thick lenses, suffering from the Monsoon humidity, and motioned to the formidable Abu Shekau with his stethescope. “He will need great care, the pitch cauterized his knife inflicted wounds, stopping the loss of blood. That saved his life. But the knife wounds severed his manhood, his right leg will have muscle wastage, from a cut femoral artery. Pitch sealed that wound, but damaged the tissue. He will sit to pee, like a woman. I am sorry he needs reconstructive surgery, we have poor hospital equipment here. He will need European specialist doctors.” Explained the pale sweating dark faced Cameroun Doctor, peering through his thick lensed glasses, and gripping his stethoscope for comfort like a Catholic would a rosary. “When can he be moved to a new hospital Doc, with your medical supplies of course?” Demanded the short haired, dark round faced Shekau for his mutilate
