CHAPTER 1
My Journey
A s I leave this room that I have spent the last three years learning the realities of life and discovering the path to success, I make my way down the corridors filled with moments of concern, anxiousness, anger, intoxication, lust, passion, fear, and frustrations it has turned into a memory hall. I have completed and conquered the cultural narrative of a men’s success in today’s times. I sometimes wonder of the path God has designed for my future. I have become a man with many opportunities in a world of many obstacles. I sometimes wonder of the challenges in front of me that I must conquer and the world that I must become balanced with to become a difference.
As I say my farewells to the few friends I have grown to understand and be intrigued with, I give best wishes to a few great colleagues who were close; but in my mind, I know I may never see again. This next stage is what I believe this life I have been groomed and structured to be. For all my existence in manhood, I was building myself for this level, not expecting what type of storms and situations I would succumb to. One thing I knew is that I have become a different person in a larger world, and the decisions that I make along with the actions will determine the road of many that have traveled or, as the spirit may reflect, the road to Damascus. I have been told that I can be somewhat an introvert yet greeting friendly; however, I will not make too many friends, only business acquaintances and allies, developing new avenues of opportunity for financial wealth among the elite of the world.
Today, with this life, I make the change, for tomorrow I am the difference. Today is my postgraduate ceremony as a summa cum laude, being number three in my prestigious graduating class. I have made a name in the world of numbers, and now I am the one being sought out by some of the most prestigious brokerages and investors for the international commodity and financial ventures market.
My career is designed for success; you see, I have received offers from some of the most reputable institutions all over the world to come and be one of their leaders who drive the millennial involvement to the world’s economic growth. I have been heavily recruited by three of the largest financial institutions in America and Japan. The demand for minds like mine that can create new and inventive ways to make the dollar invested a strong tool to a company’s growth. One of my strongest gifts is that I am a genius with figures; and figures are what power the American, Japanese, and Chinese economies. They all use it as the instrument to try to become leaders of the rest of the world. But my interest isn’t with just the world financial stability or the companies that are the leaders in it. It is the money that moves through the American economy. The money that funds the backroom, closed-door investments with other countries that grow off the backs of the working people in America. The illegal laundering that passes through the hands of the people of the United States, designed to be used as if it is helping in the funding of our city and states.
You see, in America, we have tripled the number of billionaires living among us more than many of the world countries combined. With their control, these are some of the most supremacist governmental officials, avid liberal Christians, and one-sided equal-opportunity governing body of people while this country still maintains the culture freeze on equality and unity. The absence of this humanity of religious faith should only tell you that it is through “the money that governs from the hands of the unfortunate privileged 1 percent are the hands that rule the governments of this world.”
So I have accepted the offer with DJLC Financial Group, the nation’s number two financial gross profit companies in the United States. They are shown to have a control on the in-house flow of America’s wealth that deals from the trading of agricultural, stock, and domestic and the new implementation of the genealogy and stem cell research. I am Christopher Floyd, the new executive over Foreign and Domestic Integrations Department.
CHAPTER 2
The Visitor
A s a stormy April morning is coming together in the city of Chicago, I entered the office building of DJLC, with the normal expectations for many messages, meetings, and conference calls all scheduled throughout most of my day.
As I arrived and parked in my assigned space, I noticed just to my left that there was an exact color, make, and model car of my own parked just three spaces away from mine. The strange thing was that the car was dry, and it had been raining practically all night.
As I entered my office, I was greeted like it was a typical morning by my assistant Stephanie, one hand full of files and my favorite smoothie in the other. What puzzled me was the strange look of exhausted concern upon her face.
“Good morning, Ms. Stephanie,” I greeted her with the crack of a smile.
“Good morning, Mr. Floyd.”
She showed an uncomfortable look of concern but still offered me the look of a uncertainty, giving me a small grin with a slight nod. I glanced to notice that someone was in the waiting area. “Stephanie, I don’t recall seeing something on my schedule this early. Is your look for concern because I may have missed an appointment this early?”
“No, Mr. Floyd, this gentleman is here to speak with you. He has been here since I arrived this morning.”
This must be the owner of the car in the lot I’ve seen , I thought. “Did he give you a name or reason for his visit? Do you know what company he’s representing?”
“No, sir, he only gave me this card, and when I asked his purpose for the visit, he only mentioned the words financial investigat ions .”
“Investigation?” I said. This sparked a deep tingle in me. I wonder what he could mean. Then I glanced at the card only to see the letter I . “Is this all he gave you, Steph?” I stared at the card, wondering if this was something I really had time for.
“Yes, and he then went and stood staring out the window. He’s been in that same position since. Should I call security and have him taken out of the building?”
“No, please don’t do that. I will speak with him shortly and see what’s on his mind. Give me a second to put my stuff down and then show the gentleman in.”
“Sure thing, Mr. Floyd.” She then turned to leave my office with still a puzzled, concerned look on her face.
Stephanie was hired because of her strong analytical and educational background that brought her attitude to work of not being left behind. Her credentials were amazing. She was a woman who too graduated summa cum laude from an esteemed university with a degree in marketing and management. She stood only five feet four inches and weighed about 135 pounds. She had the prettiest teeth and eyes. She was interviewed to be an account executive, but I convinced her that with her skills, I could use her as an account administrative in the foreign and implementation department. She really is a great asset to my department, and I have brought her in on many foreign acquisitions. Her skills are great because she speaks three languages. She brings a no-nonsense, tough attitude of not having to be told what to do. Stephanie is a great profiler, which helps me to determine the client’s motives and gives me someone to converse with in ideas of business.
Entering was a man in an expensive but dressed-down and well-tailored suit and well-polished shoes. He appeared to have a military walk. He was strong and upright with a clean-shaved face and manicured hands. I met him in his stare as he profiled me the same as I had just done him. We gave a smirk of acknowledgment of what we had done.
“Hello, I am Christopher Floyd, and you are?”
“Donovan Patton.”
The name didn’t ring a bell, so I extended my hand. “Well, Mr. Patton, you have caught me a little off guard and has piqued my interest on why you would like to see me. You stated to my Ms. Harris that you were here to discuss a matter of something called the financial investigation. Please have a seat and explain what the investigation that I may even have knowledge of. More th
