Description

In the world of somnium there is darkness brewing, evil lurking in the shadows waiting to strike.
The Dream theatre was supposed to be a device to calm the minds of everyone on earth, but to Lord Timor it is a weapon, a tool to rule.
The people are completely out their depth, but there's always hope. In this case it may be hopeless.

What are dreams? Are they thoughts and visions being created like a movie by our brain? The things we love, fear and hate. Our darkest secrets? Are they also simply a time or place that we remember from our past that our mind won’t let us forget?
What is the difference between a dream and a nightmare? These questions we will never have the answers for, or will we?
What if there was a world far away from this one? A place with creatures beyond our understanding. Working together to ensure everyone on earth has a good night’s sleep by using a machine.
The dream theatre collects our thoughts, visions, and beliefs, and stores them for gifted and magical beings to use and create our dreams for us, to ensure a night of peace and tranquillity.
But with good there is also bad, agents of evil lurking in the shadow trying to engage and manipulate these wonderful beings, bringing fear, despair, and horror to our night’s sleep, the darker side of this world wanting the people of earth to endure nightmares.
The battle rages between good and evil, for the power and use of the dream theatre, evil is everywhere, and the battle will not only be fought in this beautiful world but in our world…..today.
Chapter 1
GIN AND GINGER BEER
In a damp, quiet street in the east end of London lives a young boy Martin Saunders. Martin lives in a flat on Routledge Street with his mother Janet. Routledge Street is well known to the people in surrounding areas, mostly because of the poverty and trouble which is bad news for the police who find themselves there more often than they would like.
The street itself is very cold and it always seems dark even during the daytime, rows of large grey high-rise flats with 2 floors to each flat standing tall like tombstones. It’s like a part of the world cut off from mother nature, being left to rot and decay through time.
Most of the windows are boarded up due to violence, or people have been tired of the way things are there and have decided to leave and live elsewhere. Which is an invitation to the troublesome youths, trying to find somewhere to get out of the cold and wet.
The empty shops which were once the heart of the community were covered in graffiti and closed because of financial troubles, and newer stylish shops are being built in nicer areas.
The street is full of dirt and litter and abandoned shopping trolleys from the supermarket that once existed there, which keep the kids entertained as they push each other around. There is more litter on the street than there is in the bin, as the local council makes cuts everywhere, with the Bin lorry coming once a fortnight instead of once a week.
For Janet Saunders, a single mother to her son Martin, this is her home, the place she was born. The place where she was brought up as a young girl and has lived her whole life, to her was like a big grey vertical village.
Janet has lots of fond memories there, when she was younger everyone in the street even in times of extreme poverty and suffering was all happy. It was a place where all the kids were out playing day and night, and there was no need for worry, everyone knew each other and looked after one another, no problems was giving an ear bashing to other people’s kids as they all had respect and were a family.
Janet’s parents, grandparents, and Janet herself were all married at the local church, where she and her son Martin were christened, her parents and grandparents are buried in the cemetery there’s a lot of history for Janet here, to say the least.
After 1 year of marriage, her husband Felix disappeared when she was pregnant, and her hopes and dreams died. Janet was training to be a schoolteacher when she fell pregnant, her whole life ahead of her simply vanished overnight, and then she was alone in the world with a bouncing baby boy to look after.
No one knew what happened to Felix, they both had a great loving relationship together, not only as husband and wife, but they were best friends. Then out of the blue, he never returned home from his work rumors began as a close street they usually do, but he was never found and Janet now finds herself stuck at home, cleaning up and looking after her now troublesome teenager Martin.
Martin takes advantage of the fact there is no father figure at home, no one to keep him in line and guide him away from the trouble and strife that surrounds him. His mother is too soft to bring him down a peg or two, so he tends to take the piss more often than not.
“Martin, get up and get ready for school”………” Martin” Shouts Janet who is growing impatient.
“Martin, I’m not asking again”….” right ok, I’m not deaf I heard you the first time for god’s sake ” replied Martin as he slowly sits up on his bed, rubbing away at his eyes, he sits yawning, dazed and confused trying to remember why he thought it was a good idea to be playing his game console into the early hours in the morning.
One more push, it’s Friday I can almost see the finishing line, he thinks to himself as he looks around the disaster that is his room.
Clothes are hanging out of drawers, apart from the bottom one that is piling up with old cups and plates. He would need a map to find the floor, he knows he will need to sort it eventually as he’s been well warned “There will be no visitors until it’s clean.” To be honest, his mum has a point, they don’t want to be responsible for people becoming ill after breathing in that air.
A Friday can be quite jolly in School, most of the chat among the kids is about the upcoming weekend.
Everyone is buzzing with excitement, a good chance for many to see if the flirting they have been doing all week is going to peak and give them all something to talk about on Monday.
But it’s not that easy, who’s got an empty parent-free house? where is the booze coming from? How many girls are going?
Martin pauses for a second, as small bits of his dream from the previous night start to pop into his head.
Entering in and out of his head like flashes, he thinks he’s remembered something and then it’s away again.
Thinking to himself that he is too tired to concentrate and decides to slowly swing his legs around and get out of bed.
Janet opens the door which sweeps some debris across the floor, it comes to a sudden halt as some clothes have got stuck under the door. Giving Janet just enough room to get her head inside.
“Breakfast is out, better get up before it gets cold” which just annoys him, as he adjusts his boxer shorts to make sure nothing is hanging out.
Janet waits for a moment as Martin sits with a rather puzzled look on his face “are you ok Martin?” he laughs quietly to himself and says “yeah I’m a fine mum I just had a really weird dream” with a look of relief and amusement his mum replies “And no wonder, you spend that much time playing that bloody computer and watching TV, it’s not good for you son”
Martin rubs his eyes and thinks to himself “Moan, moan, moan”
“Right come on, better get up before you’re late” as she leaves him to go down and get the tea poured.
Martin stands up and looks around the room, looking for a clean t-shirt to wea
