Dogs Can’t Eat Chicken
A long time ago, we lived on a farm in Northern Alberta. It was cold in the winter and really nice in the summer. Since the 80’s, it’s gotten warmer in the winter, and nobody minds. On our farm one day, we all drove into the city. We went and had Mama Panda’s Buffet after my dad took care of his horse business. My dad bred horses and to keep the coyotes away and herd the animals, we had a bloodline of border collie dogs too.
When we came home that day, one of the puppies came up to us as we were getting out of the car. It was Panda. (Named after the Buffet) Panda was a happy dog and a very good soul.
It was then that my dad realized some of the chickens were dead in the yard. Since Dixie & Ratty were lurking and Panda came right up to us when we got home, we knew who had killed them. It wasn’t Panda.
First thing we did was take the other puppy, Ratty and throw him & a couple of rocks into an old hamper & duct tape him in there. We then took him to the dugout, (A man made pond) and threw him in.
We then did the same to his mother Dixie. She was stronger & got out.
We drove back to the farm from the dugout & of course, Dixie was there when we got there. Apparently, she didn’t know she was gonna die.
So, our hired hand duct taped her all up and started to put her in the car. I couldn’t go with him Dad said, but I never saw Dixie again…
