Description

In Luminous Pathways, the author presents a panoply of human feelings toward life experiences.A poetic phenomenology perspective that warrants our inquiries is deeply rooted, and streaming within these pages. The poet, in this process, seems to speak about himself or is speaking for or about others. That is a sound and reasonable problem. The solution is to recognize that Luminous Pathways offers an opportunity to find a privileged place that each one of us possesses to realize there is a sweet, impolite, contemplative, visionary corner in our minds or hearts craving for poetry, and poetry advocacy. This is not a book about poetic authority. The possibility of speaking for others, or self, touches essentially on the veracity that human life is paved with dramas, disagreements, joy, and fulfillment. The author invites you to be absorbed in the reading.

Clarence St. Hilaire offers in this volume I of Luminous Pathways (Sentiers Lumineux) a tool to subjectively consider the core of epistemology that is so pervasive in all aspects of our humanity.
It forces the mind to delve into a limitless web of “knowing” yet unreachable,to realize that the mind is not disconnected from the heart. There is a symbiosis of the body and mind defining us, purely as humans with dignity, love, altruism, flaws and failures, seeking higher grounds to God, and extending the hands for social and racial justice.

LOUDNESS
I AM NOT FROM “SHITHOLE COUNTRIES”

I am not from “shithole countries”
I am from great kings of Africa,
not from Miami, but Haiti,
Kiskeya, Boyio.
I am Haitian-African.
Haitian from the Dahomey Kingdom,
not long ago, a large empire.
I am not from “shithole countries”,
because it comes from stupidity,
historical and cultural ignorances.
I am a small Africa.
I am Adja, Akan,Ayizo,Bambara,
Edo, Fulah,Hwla,Igbo,
Igala, Mayi,Mede,
Moudong, Nago,Ouatchi,
Petwo, Rada,Sayalou,
Seneka, Wangol,Yagba,
Congo, and Guinee.
I also have roots in Yoruba.
I fought as a chasseur volontaire,
or volunteer light infantry
at the siege of Savannah
for your freedom, and battle of equality.
I am Georges Biassou,
I fought for Florida’s independence.
I am the asòtò drum of gathering.
I have a strong spirit and history.
I shed my blood for a better nation.
James Weldon Johnson,
Jean Baptiste Point du Sable,
Homer Plessy,
who advocated early civil rights,
and W.E.B Du Bois,
all shared our ancestry.
In the United States,
the list of Haitian descent is long.
I am from the pearl of the Caribbean.
I used to work and produce
tobacco, indigo, cotton and caccao.
I work to produce with my hands and mind.
I am the never told powerful story
of civil rights, and great slaves,
the hidden story of the Black consciousness.
Before the contemporary Black leaders,
early Haitian Americans in the nineteenth century
served as U.S. Congressmen.
From South Carolina: Robert C.Delarge,
and Alonzo J. Ransier.
F.H. Fyall as Georgia House of Representatives,
George L. Fayerman, Virginia House of Representatives,
Félix C. Antoine as Louisiana House of Representatives,
César C. Antoine as Louisiana State Senator,
and lieutenant Governor,
and Richard H. Gleaves as South Carolina
Lieutenant Governor.
I am not better than Africans and others,
I am Haitian in all my dreams and illusions.
I paved the road of liberty, equality,
and brotherhood for many generations,
I am not from “shithole countries”.
I have my own identity.
I paid all my freedom debts.
Now it is time for you
to submerge your ignorance
