FOREWORD
The book contains 23 poems composed over a period 1999-2019.
The modern State has given birth to irresponsible politicians, widespread corruption, oppressive state, majoritarianism, betrayal of people’s mandate, failing justice system, rising of the divisive social forces, wars everywhere within and across borders with no end in sight, causing unbearable misery and devouring innocent lives, which has put to shame all the knowledge, genius and progress of the human society and culture.
The charm of the Modern democratic state with its noble precepts of liberty, equality, fraternity and democracy has been waning. This is an age of a new kind of servitude. Widespread poverty, hunger, disease, human rights violations, women inequality, degrading environment, have dodged consensus and collective action. Billions continue to live the life of sub-humans.
Invasion of individual privacy and the possibility of the State apparatus controlling people’s thoughts and actions through use of the new technology has added a new dimension to the worries of the people. Religious radicalism is another worrying factor which is posing serious challenge to the human society and its civilisation.
The prevailing phenomenon has been tearing my conscious and has seeped into my soul.
But the hope is not dead. The millennial is the hope to rediscover and reinstate all that is lost and all that remains to be achieved.

From the ballot box From this magic box somewhere A genie is born Mutant, With a wish list of his own The dance and music in the street the previous day Are all bygone.
Once out He turns into a demigod Omnipotent, immortal As if blessed by Vishnu.
Once created The genie is invincible Till into the ballot box, He is buried in locks.
Now a giant As the baby is grown Fifty two yards into the sky Like a scion Of the Ravana clan Strutting all around Millions fail To lay him down.
You may listen to his sermon But nothing from it you learn.
