Description

This book of quotes and poems are dedicated to those who have suffered through life's hardships, as I myself have experienced many. It's a collection of reflections and poems that have been in the works for close to a decade. As a life-long musician, with forty-four years' experience, I always loved songwriting, but couldn't find a wide audience. This book has been written with one goal: To reach hundreds of people that could use a little bit of inspiration in their tough daily lives. It's not meant to ignore the good life, but rather focuses on hope, especially for those struggling with their lives. It's a book of empathy. Its purpose is to leave something for the world in order to make it just a slightly better place. I say that with courage because it comes across as rather arrogant, but I only say that because the bottom line is that I care about people. I've simply desired to share my thoughts with folks, hoping it can at least create one smile or tear.

Mental Prison is perhaps the worst of cells to suffer in, yet it’s the only one in which the prisoner holds the key for the life of the sentence.

Too quickly is forgotten the journey through the tunnel,
once the light at its end is reached.

Heaven is not just for the deceased,
so we needn’t wait an entire lifetime to reach it.

Only in the winters of the mind’s scattered seasons
can the rivers freeze.

Fear is peculiar; it often motivates the soul
yet refuses to be friends with it.
The art of forgetting is perhaps the most difficult to master.

It is human nature to be farsighted,
as the hardest things to find are often right in front of us.

The fact that perfection can never be reached
makes it all the more tempting to strive for.

Imagination is bound only by infinity and your will to envision,
but just as significant as imagination is what we do with it.

We are all bound by a great circle, of which we cannot pass, but we can choose to rise high above it and see beyond its boundaries.
Time so often reveals that our worst nightmares
were in fact the foundation to our greatest dreams.

Apologize for a tempest you didn’t give rise to,
and the storm may blow over like a little breeze.

If you chase your dreams too quickly,
you’re liable to run right past them.

To live longer than others is not necessarily to outlive them.

The darkest corridors often have the doors to the brightest rooms.
If everyone’s goal was to make the world a better place before we leave it, the resulting utopia would be a blissful bore. However, it would certainly be a much better place than it is now.

Be thankful you can’t commonly see land across the ocean,
for the mystery is the master key to our lifeblood.

The tiny, lone tree that grows in the vast desert stands a towering triumph.

Shut your eyes and you can often see more;
block your ears and you can often hear more,
but close your mind and you may never know more.

If optimism is being too optimistic, and pessimism too pessimistic, perhaps a word should be created for “ossimism”: a combination of being optimistic and simultaneously realistic.
The sky is its deepest blue just before twilight; the grass is greenest just before its winter sleep, and people are at their greatest appreciation for one another just before they must say goodbye.

In the most desolate places,
the moon glistens with its grand quiescence of hope.
