Description

Family ViolenceDomestic ViolenceChild AbuseNot easy topics to read about, not easy to talk about, butyou can heal and forgive andbe completely free. You can be the beginning of peace. If you have experienced family violence at any level, it could be that your parents struggled with domestic violence, or your family just had feuds and disagreements that hurt one generation to the next. Family violence always hurts and perpetuates violence. It looks different behind the mask of illusions. Peace begins with you. You can change the negative impacts, heal the psychological, spiritual, and emotional wounds. You can mend the heart, heal the physical body, and ultimately free the psyche. When you heal, your family heals; when your family heals, your children and their children heal. Family violence is intergenerational, and peace begins when you say yes to peace. The violence stops when you have the courage to say yes to peace. Poetry is a tool; healing and restorative poetry is a creative art. This coffee-table poetry book, Peace Begins When Family Violence Ends, is an initiation and invitation for you to choose forgiveness and peace.

About The Author
Dedication
To my son –
Whom I am so thankful for and so very proud of…
I dedicate this book to you and your future.

I am a very happy mother – we share a special bond, a family connection that no matter where in the world we may be, we are always connected.

Thank you for all the wonderful memories – the challenges and the good times we remember. You helped motivate me to take action, to dream and to stay grounded – when I had to take risks, you encouraged me, and taught me how to have better boundaries. Your will and inner strength when times were tougher than nails gave me courage to take risks.

I will continue to grow, learn, and “Be the Peace” because you are my child and I am your mother.

Introduction
This “true story” and table top poetry book has been written during the last 10 years from 2004 – 2014. It reflects a life story – of events – and the experience of healing from family violence. It was during the “healing years” of my life, that I started this collection of poems. I never imagined it would become a book that could help many other people – men, women and children – resolve to stop all forms for family violence and let peace begin.
I wrote most of these poems living on top of a mountain on the Blue Ridge Parkway, alone by myself for nine months – it was during those nine months, I pieced myself back together, integrated years of therapy and made a decision to dedicate my life to helping others heal and restore their own lives from the wounds of family and domestic violence. Knowing this would not be easy topics to talk about nor to heal from and change, it seemed that my journey in life had lead me to the “top of the mountain” to begin that process. I wrote my truth, my experience and did my best to invite healing and peace into the dark places where the light was very dim.
As a licensed professional counselor, I hold a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology and from 25 years of experience and combined education, I know people can heal from all forms of domestic/family violence. It can end, and peace can begin for future generations of children and families.
Peace Begins TM – a Family Violence 12 Step Recovery Program – has been birthed from the completion of this story, narrative and healing poetry book.
