Description

When she first saw him, Francesca was just eleven years old. Too young, too naive, too far away, she had nothing to let her be close to him.
He was famous and rich, travelling the world and never stopping, he basically lived in her dreams. The idea of this story is that dreams do come true, and we will see them growing and be the best. A story through twenty years of fantastic adventures, conflicts and romantic situations.
This is the story of how a little girl got the chance to ask to be loved by the most impossible person ever and he answered yes.

Prologue
“I will meet them one day, it’s a promise!”
I’d never thought how right I was, and how it changed my life.

1993
“You again?”
“Of course, are you wondering? My place is not so far from here, you know!”
“I know, but you’re here almost every day, what are you looking for?”
“Nothing special, I was just thinking you might need a frequent customer.”
“If you weren’t only eleven, I could easily think you’re in love with me.”
This is Pietro, a very nice man but, most importantly, he’s my personal magazine shopper.
To be honest, I don’t know exactly why I go there every day, maybe because I like the VIP pictures on all those magazines, or maybe because I just need to go out of my house. If I ever show what I usually buy to my mum, she will start shouting that I don’t have to waste my time on silly things like gossips, music and so on.
But I’m only eleven, what else is she expecting me to do? So I come back home, hiding my favourite magazine under my shirt, go straight to my bedroom and close the door, even if she starts shouting at me to open it.
Come on, I’m alone, I’m just reading a magazine…NO! OH, MY GOD, who are they? Maybe singers? They’re so, so cute!
I keep the magazine opened on this picture of five young boys, but I immediately notice only one of them: he’s wearing a nice hat and he has a particular facial expression that seems to say ‘I know I’m the best, even if I don’t like to be here’. He doesn’t seem so happy and now I only want to know his name that, unfortunately, is not mentioned anywhere.
Maybe they’re not so famous. In fact, they look so young, not more than twenty, so when my mum called me for lunch, I came back to reality, thinking about the BIG reason I have now to go to Pietro’s shop every day.
Chapter 1

Six Months Later
“Francesca, I’ve got everything ready for you.”
“Thanks, Pietro, how did you know I was coming this exact moment?”
“Because this is your time of the day, every fucking day,” he laughs. “There’s a picture of Peter, ‘your’ lovely Peter, on Top Girl. By the way, d’you want it too?”
“Of course, I want it, how much is it?” I ask the price and pay.
“See you next week?” he smirks.
“Maybe before, thank you.”
Since I found out your name, I can’t live without you. In fact, nobody can stand me anymore, especially my family, because I sing your song all the time, so loud, I have to do it when they can’t see or hear me.
Is it a problem? Of course it is, because I think I’m in love with Peter Williams, even if I know I’ll never meet him, I’m such a dreamy little girl.

1994
You’re in my country. You’re in my country and I have to watch you on TV, while a lot of screaming girls are in front of you.
Why am I only twelve? Why my family doesn’t understand my passion? My bedroom is full of you, posters, gadgets, everything and, every time I’m home alone, I spend my time singing and dancing to your entire discography. It’s the only time I’m happy because when I’m with my ‘friends’, they don’t understand me as well, because they say, “You talk about him like he’s your boyfriend,” and for them, it’s not normal.
“You talk about him like he’s your boyfriend.”
I didn’t know it wasn’t a simple thought…at all!

1995
So it’s true, Double T will be in Italy on tour in less than a month and I won’t be there.
If this wasn’t enough, today I received the book ‘In private’ from the UK.
While I’m reading, I started to cry. “You’re five beautiful guys, but YOU…oh, my God, YOU…you’re perfect!”
I’m still trying to read in tears when I find a little banner on the last page talking about a competition to meet your favourite pop star.
I start to look at it as it was unreal or maybe, simply a sign, so I decided: ‘Why not? I’m sure, I will never win and even if I will, he will never come, it’s a fake, for sure, I’m only thirteen, why should he be interested?’
So, here I am, no matter what, walking straight to the post office, laughing about how crazy I am in this moment.
This is, for sure, the longest walk I ever had in my life.
Chapter 2
It’s already three weeks since I sent that banner and nobody answered yet.
A ‘sorry, no win’ would be enough but I couldn’t stop thinking about victory: what should I say to my parents?
I’m at Pietro’s shop again, like every day, chatting, so I don’t have to stay at home, looking at my posters, thinking they’re in Italy and I’m at home.
“There’s an interview to the boys about the tour on ‘Cioè’, d’you want it?”
“I don’t think I’m gonna read it, but thanks, I’m going home now.”
“Is everything okay?” he asks, apparently worried.
“Yes…I mean…I just need to go home.”
Home. Everyone is stranger than usual these days, my father is not at home (he’s a doctor and he goes around Italy very often because of my grandma), my brother stopped bullying me and my mother started to ask me about Peter…mmmh, yes, extremely weird!
I’m in my bedroom when I hear someone knocking at the main door.
I shout from the stairs for someone to open the door, but nobody answers. So, I go downstairs and am wondering why they are all on the terrace looking and laughing at me.
I really don’t know what the hell is going on, so, without any hesitation, I open the door and…I think I’m gonna faint!
I’m quite sure I’m dreaming, I’m still in my bed dreaming, yeah, so I will close my eyes and he’s gonna disappear…yeah? NO.
“Are you Francesca? I hope James left me at the right place, otherwise, I’m lost!”
I only answer, (well, to be honest, I whispered) “Yes, I am,” and I don’t have the time to finish the sentence because he’s already hugging me, saying,
“GREAT! Apparently, I’ll be yours for a month, from now!”
Ladies and gentlemen, believe me, I’m still thinking I’m dreaming, but it’s HIM, Peter Williams, in front of my main door, so let me continue sleeping, please.

With You at Home
“Francesca, what are you doing? Oh, it’s so funny, you really don’t know how to manage with boys! You have one in your own house and he’s already being distracted!”
Maybe my mother doesn’t know how I’m feeling in this moment, I think I even don’t remember my name anymore. How could I notice HIM in my garden, playing with my little brother, like he was his best friend?
The only thing that I’m sure of is I need A LOT of water, otherwise, I won’t deal with it, and only after I could go to the garden.
The garden, yes, of course. I have Peter Williams in my garden playing with my little brother and having a laugh while the cat is quite shocked on a side, and the only thing I can say is, “What are you doing here? What about the tour?”
He comes to me, looking me in the eyes (oh, my God, those eyes!), and when he’s close enough, he whispers in my ears, “I’ve got some problem with Martin and you saved my life with your banner and that competition, I need to stay away from him for a while. About the tour…erm…unfortunately, William doesn’t feel very well, so we had to cancel some shows, but don’t worry, because you will be with me so I won’t get lost on the way back here. I will introduce you to the boys, they can’t wait to meet you and, last but not least, I will need support against my manager.”
He is talking while I’m still in shock, and of course, I don’t believe any word of what he just said, so I pretend and answer, “Really? And when will we go away?”
“Next week, I suppose, in the meantime, I hope it’s not a problem for you having me here.”
One week is nothing, is he joking? That’s the perfect answer
