Description

"I want to stay on a remote unknown island, not for the sake of sagacity, but to accompany my loneliness. On that full moon night, Mozart played the first symphony he ever composed on violin for me on the crystal-white terrace of Salzburg Castle. After that, I started believing in the melody of God.However, I know they will never award my residence the status of a World Heritage Site. No issues, but they still don't know that it is that place which God often visits to drink with me and to share some lighter moments."-------------------------By turns witty, acerbic, surreal and playfully philosophical, the thirteen short stories in verse form that make up The Hostages of God show the full extent of their author's unique world-view and wonderfully expansive imagination.

We never sailed,
but we died
on the deck of a
wrecked ship!!

A Child Prodigy
The horses are white
and so are their
tails,
but what about the
minute black spots
on their bodies?
Does it have any
significance to their
last birth or
does the answer lie
in the genetics
of their breed?
Maybe,
but you will
never understand the
complexity of the
problem!
He is barely
five years old,
but he knows the
answer
because he has
the same black spots
on his
fate line!
He knows
why the spiders
have a rivalry
with the fishes
because they have
the same
genetic design
of the net!
He knows
why moon and
the alcohol are
cognates
because both have
a tendency
to influence
the human mind!
The optimistic trees
have pessimistic
roots,
which arrest their
growth,
but he knows that
the fertile soil
has the capacity
to transplant the
hearts of the
roots!
He knows
the secret of
that fatal attraction
between a magnet
and the iron
because
he had cremated
the body of a compass,
a thousand years
back!
He knows
on reaching
the last destination
of the Silk Route
at Istanbul,
where those merchants
secretly
used to keep their
moneys
before the Friday prayers!
He knows,
those hidden treasures
of Siberia
which even the Czars of Russia
didn’t know!
The collage of emotions
may have some
dark spots of
pains,
but they still look
attractive,
if the portrait
has a
white mantle,
because the sharp objects
lose their sharpness
if they are kept
in the vicinity of
blunt objects!
The saffron has its
unique colour
because once upon
a time,
it had unknowingly kissed
the setting sun!
The mouths of the
cannons may look
fearsome,
but he knows that
soon they would look
miserable
if the ammunition
betrays them!
He understands that,
the simple harmonic motion
may all of a sudden
turn erratic
because the pendulum
may be having a
serious psychiatric
disorder!
He knows
that pyramid in Cairo
where the mummies
of Adam and Eve
are still preserved!
He knows
those intricate-clustered lands
in the Amazon basin
where man is
yet to reach!
He knows exactly
the precise thickness
of the ‘Anari’ cheese
made in Cyprus!
He is aware of that day
when an entire lagoon
known as ‘Venice’
would migrate to
an altogether new destination
in the sea,
leaving its mainland Italy
due to the miracle
called ‘Tsunami’.
However,
you can’t trace
his genes
because his chronicle
has some
blank pages!
The cradle has
given up swinging
because it is unable
to answer his
innocent queries!
The hearts of the
birds
stop beating
if he doesn’t dream
of flying!
The soft petals of
rose
compete to match
the colour
of his cheeks!
The strings
of his heart
lament
if the stars
sing a
sad note!
The sky is blue
because he has
washed it
with the
blue waters of the
ocean!
The romance has
its inspiration
in his boyish
charm!
His smooth silky hairs
lure the
young butterflies
to get lost
and date!
According to his
school teachers,
he is highly
undisciplined and
aggressive,
but they don’t know
that
he has fallen
in love
with that
rebel girl!!!

So What??
God is hospitalised!
Doctors are trying
their best,
but the disease
of God is spreading
ten times faster
than the cancer!
God is now
on his deathbed.
Finally,
he is dead!
Doctors issue a
Death Certificate,
mentioning the
cause of death as
“Prolonged illness”.
But nobody is
