In all the cities she has lived, this tiny friend was first to jump into her pocket and get ready to go. He is waiting for you behind these pages. Tamara would like you to meet him and have an unforgettable time.

Chapter 1

Decision
London, United Kingdom
“Do you all hear that? What is that sound?”
A girl with curly, golden blonde hair asks her esteemed toy friends, who were traditionally sitting at the short sphere-shaped table and having, as usual, their afternoon tea. It was half six. Well, who says that afternoon tea must be in the afternoon?
“Who wants to come with me to investigate where this strange and loud noise comes from?” the girl asks again her toys.
“I knew you would, Little Dog! You are the bravest of all toys and you always keep the house safe.”
The sound was repetitive and something between strong thunder and an explosion.
“Let’s go!” The girl immediately stood up from the floor and picking Little Dog up in her hands, briskly walked off to the window, as this was the direction where this very strong sound was coming from.
“Ah, of course! Look, Little Dog, it’s fireworks! Wow! It looks beautiful!” the girl exclaimed with great joy as blue, red and then silver sparks were appearing on an evening sky in the shape of a palm tree. Holding Little Dog in her left hand and pointing out in the direction of the sky, the girl now said: “Here are the ones that make whistle sound!” She counted and eight firework rockets following quickly one after another were firing green and then purple sparks and making strong whistle sounds while travelling from the ground to the heights well above tall trees and house rooftops.
“That was awesome, but I think I also saw something else! Come, Little Dog, we have to tell Mum and Dad what just happened!” The girl turned around and started walking in a rush but before leaving the bedroom, she stopped and kneeled in front of a sphere table, still holding Little Dog in her hand, and said:
“Dear Princess Olivia, Duke of Moss Lane, Firefighter Freddie, Lady of Japan and Doctor Leon, Little Dog and I are terribly sorry for having to leave at once, but a very important task is ahead of us and no further delay is possible, I’m afraid. There is, however, nothing to worry about and please do continue enjoying your afternoon tea.” Still with the words on her lips, the girl and Little Dog rushed out of the room, making their way downstairs, towards the living room. A little bit out of breath, storming into the living room and sliding against the wooden floor in her socks, the girl quickly changed her mind and decided not to interrupt her parents straightaway from watching TV due to what was just on, as she herself wanted to hear it:
“You are watching BBC News, here are the latest headlines: Crises in Bosnia and Croatia are escalating leaving thousands of families and children displaced. Our special correspondent for humanitarian crisis is having a story and will be with us tonight in the special programme from 9pm. To find out more on how to make donations, please call the charity phone numbers shown below.”
“Oh no!” the girl shouted.
“Hey Ellie, what’s wrong?” Ellie’s mother who was now sitting on the sofa, turned around and looked at Ellie with a little bit of worry on her face. Father also dropped his October’s edition of Fish & Bates Magazine and looked up at her like something scary was going on.
“That’s so terrible!” Ellie said in a loud tone, referring to the news.
“Is there any way we can help one of those children?” she looked at Mum and Dad with questioning eyes.
Father David, being a person of action, fired his answer: “SURE! There must be some way.”
“Let us all have dinner and we can talk about it at the table.” Always calmed down no matter what the situation was, Mum Dorothy replied.
“How was the afternoon tea?” David asked just to break the silence.
“Ah yes! Mum, Dad, you won’t believe what Little Dog and I saw!” Both Dorothy and David were now curiously looking at Ellie as if she was going to tell them about who knew what.
“We saw huge fireworks lighting up the whole sky. Something important must be going on,” Ellie sad.
“Oh yes darling,” Mother Dorothy started speaking, “Lady with the cat, Evans family, you know, Margaret from number 212, told me the other day that they bought some fireworks for the bonfire night tomorrow. I assume they probably tested one or two tonight to see if all works fine.”
On the mention of a cat, Ellie just quickly looked at Little Dog like she knew exactly what he was thinking. Dorothy noticed that but tried to ignore it while David was slurping hot butternut squash soup.
“What is bonfire?” Ellie asked.
“Ha, that’s a great question. There was a man back in the days that wanted to destroy House of Lords, that’s where the politicians sit today, using gunpowder. His helpers and he luckily didn’t succeed, and people later started celebrating the fact that King James I survived and that nothing bad happened. People then started celebrating by making big fires around London. Today, we just added little bit of fireworks.”
Ellie found the story quite interesting and grateful to her mother for the explanation, she said:
“Little Dog and I thought that somebody who we heard loudly sneezed, might have had tripped over that electric cable that Mr Evans used yesterday to connect to a car battery when he did garden lighting. Maybe, a couple of electric sparks were enough to activate all the fireworks. We actually saw somebody running and garage doors opening.”
Dorothy and David looked at each other with fear realising what Ellie was just calmly saying was probably the truth!
David quickly put the tablespoon back into an almost empty plate, splashing the rest of the soup and running away from the table and yelled: “I have to tell Jack!” Already outside the main entrance door, he saw his neighbour Jack Evans standing outside. They were first neighbours.
“David!”
“Jack! Hey, we think you had somebody who tried to rob you! Ellie heard something!”
Margaret was also standing outside the house in her fluffy white slippers and matching dressing gown, holding their cat in her arms and nervously tapping with her feet.
“Yeah!” Jack said in distress. Bright flashy light came from his mobile phone. Mr Evans was staring at it. “There he is! Cheeky little cheek!!!” Jack screamed while showing Mr David CCTV video from his phone.
“I called 999, and the police and firefighters are on their way! Ha! If that dirty sock thought that he is going to get away with it…! I have it all here!”
“They are here!” Margaret exclaimed, scaring the living light out of the cat who now desperately tried to escape from her arms. Intense blue light followed by unbearably loud firefighters’ siren was filling up the Moss Lane.
“Dad!”
“Ellie?! Dorothy, please take Ellie inside.” Mr David was worried that it might be too dangerous for Ellie to be there, but it was too late. Two police officers already came out of the car accompanied with five firefighters rushing to the scene to assess possible danger. Luckily, there was no fire, just the smell of smoke that the exploded fireworks left behind.
“Mr Jack Evans?” a police officer asked in a loud voice while his eyes were searching the terrain.
“That is me!” Jack confirmed quickly.
“And you are?”
