Description

Ben
This is Ben. He is five years old. Soon it is going to be Ben’s mother’s birthday.
Ben decided to bake his mother a birthday present but he could not decide what to bake her.
Then he had an idea. Ben went to see his dad who was fixing something in the garage. He whispered something in his dad’s ear and they went down to the kitchen and washed their hands. Ben’s dad helped Ben to put on an apron so that Ben wouldn’t get his clothes dirty.
Together they weighed out some self-raising flour, butter, castor sugar and eggs. They mixed the butter and sugar together in a mixing bowl until it was light and fluffy. In a separate bowl Ben beat the eggs and then added them to the butter and sugar mixture bit by bit. He then added the self-raising flour spoonful by spoonful with a tablespoon, mixing before adding more.
