Hints to Make Word Searches More Fun
Choose two different-colored pens or pencils. Work the Word Search with one of them.
Write words and draw lines as neatly as you can.
For best results try to find the longest words first.
When you find a word in the Word Search from the word list , the whole word (see Sample Word Searches A and B on page 7). Then underline , line out , or check off ( ) that same word in the list.
Words will be horizontal ( ) or vertical ( ), forward ( ) or backward ( ), or diagonal ( ).
Be sure to read any Hint, Find, and/or Clue printed below a Word Search.
Words may cross each other and share letters.
More Hints:
Scripture-text Word Searches may use ALL-CAPS, BOLDFACE words, or every word in the scripture.
Underlined words APPEAR TOGETHER in a Word Search.
Blank lines on some Word Searches are for you to fill in. Look up the answers in your New International Version Bible.
Hidden message notation in a Word Search will say: Find: [#]-word hidden message. Use your second colored pen or pencil to or underline the unused letters. Begin at the top left corner of the puzzle, as you would read a book (see Sample Word Search B). Then write down the letters to read the message.
Are you having trouble finding the diagonal words? (See Sample Word Searches.) Lay a 6 ruler down on the diagonal rows and move it from line to line. (You may use the ruler with the straight across and up-and-down letters, too, if you want to.)
When you read the verses, ask yourself, What is God saying to me?
Moms and Dads:
Are you curious about why a word was used or wonder about its context? You will find the Scripture reference in the index of Scripture References for Word-List Word Searches at the back of the book on p. 169. You may want to help your child do the more challenging Word Searches.

The First Miracle of Jesus
On the third day a WEDDING took place at CANA in GALILEE . Jesus MOTHER was there, and Jesus and his DISCIPLES had also been INVITED to the wedding.
When the WINE was gone, Jesus mother said to him, They have no more wine.
Dear WOMAN , why do you INVOLVE me? Jesus replied. My time has not yet come.
His mother said to the servants, Do WHATEVER he tells you.
NEARBY stood six STONE water JARS , the kind used by the Jews for CEREMONIAL WASHING , each HOLDING from TWENTY to THIRTY GALLONS .
Jesus said to the servants, Fill the jars with WATER ; so they FILLED them to the brim. Then he told them, Now DRAW some out and take it to the MASTER of the BANQUET .
They did so, and the master of the banquet TASTED the water that had been TURNED into wine. He did not REALIZE where it had come from, though the SERVANTS who had drawn the water knew. Then he called the BRIDEGROOM aside and said, EVERYONE brings out the choice wine first and then the CHEAPER wine after the guests have had too much to drink; but you have SAVED the best till now.
This, the first of his MIRACULOUS signs, Jesus PERFORMED at Cana in Galilee. He thus REVEALED his GLORY , and his disciples put their FAITH in him.
