#1 The most powerful man in the world, or at least the real estate occupied by a series of those men, was a child who had starred in an unreality show based on the fiction that he was a stately emperor of enterprise.
#2 We must keep each other accountable, and we must be constantly reminded that we are all important. Without others to keep us honest, we would descend into madness.

#1

The most powerful man in the world, or at least the real estate occupied by a series of those men, was a child who had starred in an unreality show based on the fiction that he was a stately emperor of enterprise.

#2

We must keep each other accountable, and we must be constantly reminded that we are all important. Without others to keep us honest, we would descend into madness.

#3

Inequality creates liars and delusion. The powerless are forced to dissemble, and the powerful grow stupid on the lies they require from their subordinates.

#4

A true tyrant does not depend on cooperative power, but issues commands enforced by thugs. He has subordinated the system of government and made it loyal to him rather than to the system of laws or the ideals of the country.

#5

The man in the White House sits, naked and obscene, a pustule of ego, in the harsh light of day. He must know somewhere below the surface that he has destroyed his image and, like Dorian Gray, will be devoured by his own corrosion.

#6

A man made a pact with a menacing man to be king of the world, but only if he let the man be king of him and hold all his secrets and records. He lorded and gloated, and his followers turned away in disgust.

#7

Trump’s actions were far more dangerous than his words. He lurched around the stage, loomed, glowered, and snarled, and it seemed he might assault her.

#8

Trump’s presidency was soaked in misogyny. From the beginning, his fury was focused on Fox presenter Megyn Kelly, who had questioned him about his derogatory comments on some women’s appearances. He denigrated his opponents’ wives and Republican primary opponent Carly Fiorina’s face.

#9

These narratives cast Clinton as a demoness with unlimited powers, or as a wicked woman, because she had power and aspired to have power again. Men seemed to find women extremely scary.

#10

Clinton was hated for her very existence. She was raised by conservative parents, but became a radical leftist in her college years and campaigned for the most left-wing Democratic candidates. She shifted right in the 1980s, perhaps to adapt to the political climate of her husband’s home state of Arkansas.
