Insights from Chapter 1
#1
Some Christians still worry that heathen hordes will one day arrive on American shores, armed with guns and knives, to crush our Christian way of life and destroy the American church. But instead of finding any evidence of Christianity in this country, they find the worship of actors, politicians, athletes, and imaginary figures on television.
#2
The heathens are perplexed. There are supposed to be 240 million Christians within America’s borders, but they can’t seem to find any. They eventually come across a church that looks like a rehab center for wealthy drug abusers.
#3
The heathens come across another church, which looks like a Christian church on the outside. But when they go inside, they see a rainbow flag hanging on the side of the building, and through a stained glass window, they can see a middle-aged woman wearing priest clothes handing out communion hosts to the other members of the church.
#4
American Christians, who were ignorant of the fundamentals of their own theology, actually believed that Jesus was a created being. They were asked to renounce their religion or die, but most refused.
#5
Head Heathen turns to the Teamwork Priest. Teamwork priest, you must disagree with these other people. Your church is very specific about its doctrines. Now publicly disavow those teachings or lose your head right here and now! The priest agrees. We’re not haters. We must get rid of the anti-divorce propaganda.
#6
The Viking raiders were not able to destroy the church because there was no longer a church to be destroyed. They were not able to behead the Christians because they couldn’t find any Christians to behead.
Insights from Chapter 2
#1
Christianity is dying in America, and it is clear that we are no longer living in a Christian country. The average American believer shares many similarities with the average American unbeliever. If you were to follow him around, track his movements, listen to his conversations, and observe how he spends his free time, you would find no evidence that he believes anything lies beyond the veil of physical existence.
#2
The average American Christian has no problem believing that some people are damned, but not him. He lives in a fog of cowardly and comfortable delusion, and it grows thicker by the day.
#3
There are many examples of this persecution, but I want to highlight just one example from a couple of years ago.
