Description

Transforming Depression argues that the prevalence of depression today results from the frenetic pace of modern life. A constant sense of being overwhelmed, fatigued, and stretched to the limit leads us to feelings of hopelessness and a lack of interest in normally pleasurable activities-the principal signs of depression. By using the HeartMath(r) techniques, readers will be able to tap into new reserves of energy and creativity and will find new ways to connect with the people in their lives. As a result, feelings of depression will lessen and dramatic change will take place for better health in mind and body.

This book is written with care and compassion, and is dedi-cated to anyone who is feeling hopeless, sad, and overwhelmed. Know that you are not alone. There literally are millions who feel as you do. Our message is that you don’t have to resign yourself to a view that things are not going to get better. The world is going through a period of rapid systemic change and uncertainty. When change is happening faster than you can keep pace, it tends to cause overload and fear, and then the heart shuts down. Depression is an understandable result. It’s hard to see light around any corner. Learning how to reopen your heart reconnects you with your spirit and can create new hope and possibilities where none seemed to exist. Our purpose is to provide you with tools and a step-by-step under-standing of how to reconnect with your spirit to regain hope and inner peace. Many have done this, and it is our hope that this book will facilitate you as well.
