Awards season is officially over! Last night the2018 Oscarsbrought the
best of the best under one roof to honor films of the previous y ear. Not
only did our favorite stars push the envelope in their respec tive nominated
categories, but they also stepped it up on the red carpet as we ll. From
classic Hollywood glamour to bold and daring numbers, you ca n see all of
the looks from the night as attendees arrive at the Dolby Thea tre in Los
Angeles for an unforgettable evening. Check back to see who m ade the cut.
The 2018 award season red carpets have looked a bit different than in
years past, thanks to stars wearing all-black looks and carr ying white roses
to support Time's Up and its fight against sexual harassment and workplace
inequality. But for the last show of the season, the Academy A wards, stars
decided to go all-out with their style, making a powerful sta tement that
they are forces to be reckoned with, no matter what they're we aring.
Stylist Elizabeth Stewart told PEOPLE that the Oscars red ca rpet was going
to be acelebration of the year's best fashion along with the best
movies, klyand the results did not disappoint. There were standout spar
looks, sweeping trains and gowns with touching backstories . But out of all
the showstopping looks, there were a few that our editors can 't stop
talking about.
Lupita Nyong'o
Lupita Nyong'o in custom Atelier Versace, Alexandre Birman shoes, Niwaka
jewelry, and with a Versace bag
Alex Apatoff, Lifestyle Director: I don't know if there's mu ch more to say
about Lupita Nyong'o's style that hasn't already been said, and as I write
this it's 1:04 a.m. and I'm losing words to describe what alre ady has left me
speechless. The star's sashed gold-and-black Atelier Vers ace gown was
regal, striking and spectacular, and she accentuated it (as always) with
flawless, thoughtful makeup and hair. I'd say she should be t he next queen
of Wakanda, but we need her too much in her current role as rule r of the
red carpet.
Jennifer Garner
Jennifer Garner in Atelier Versace and Piaget jewelry
Colleen Kratofil, Style Writer-Reporter: My favorite look s of the night were
from the stars that went for bold colors on the carpet, but I pa rticularly
loved Garner's old Hollywood moment in her cobalt Atelier Ve rsace gown.
And I loved how her side-swept wavy blowout and diamond-and- sapphire
Piaget drop earrings oozed that sophisticated glamour one e xpects to see
on the Oscars red carpet.
Margot Robbie
Margot Robbie in Chanel Haute Couture and Roger Vivier shoes
Kaitlyn Frey, Style & Beauty Assistant: There's so much to lo ve about the
Best Actress nominee's romantic white Chanel Haute Couture gown (which
she had to sew herself into backstage!). The beaded straps dr aped off her
shoulders gave a unique touch to the simple column, and altho ugh some
may disagree, her clear hard plastic Chanel clutch added a mo dern element
to the outfit that I loved. To top it all off, Margot's freshly chopped bob
styled in effortless, soft waves is giving me some serious sp ring hair inspo.
Jennifer Lawrence
Brittany Talarico, Senior Style Editor: Not only did I love t he the actress's
gunmetal sequin Dior gown, but I also loved her overall Oscar s attitude.
(See her now iconic chair-jumping, wine-drinking moment he re.)
Once
again, Lawrence managed to have a slew of meme-able moment at the
2018 Academy Awards, turning the awards show into an opportu nity to
dance on the red carpet, drink some Pinot Grigio and of course showcase
another custom Dior gown (which she paired with Niwaka jewel s and a
statement cat eye), capping off her Red Sparrow press tour in
high-fashion style. I think we even got a glimpse of her alter ego Gail.
Eiza Gonzalez
true
Sharon Kanter, Deputy Style Director: I love a moment when ev eryone is
like WHO'S THAT GIRL?! And Eiza Gonzalez definitely struck a note that no
one else on that red carpet did with her sleek bright canary on -trend yellow
gown by Ralph Collectionit was sexy, chic and bold, without veering into
tacky territory. I loved that while many stars went for custo m looks to
make a statement, she didn't need toshe pulled her look straight off the
runway. If this is what she does for the Oscars, I can't wait to see more.
Gal Gadot
Jillian Ruffo, Associate Beauty Editor: I'm a sucker for any thing shiny, so it's
no surprise that Gal's silver sequin Givenchy Haute Couture dress stole my
heart. Between the deep v-cut neckline that made way for her T iffany & Co
Blue Book jewels, the glistening fringe bottom and the mix of textures,
every detail was better than the last.
Nicole Kidman
Sarah Ball, Fashion Market Editor: If there's one celebrity who knows how
to shut down a red carpet, it's Nicole Kidmanand what's even more
amazing about it? How many times she does it. This electric bl ue Armani
Privégown was no disappointment. The vivd blue hue is stunning and the
fit of this sculptural dress is impeccable. From the sweethe art neckline and
oversized bowI just love it all. She looks incredible!
The 2018 Oscars were held at the Dolby Theatre at Hollywood & H ighland
Center on March 4 and were telecast live on ABC.
