System software facilitates the use of a computer
system
An OS (operating system) enables the computer
hardware to communicate and operate with the
application software
Perform jobs such as recognizing input from
keyboard, sending output to monitor, keeping
track of files and directories, and controlling
peripheral devices such as printers
Use programs called
drivers
to communicated with
hardware devices
Manages resources for applications
Performs system and file maintenance tasks

manages visual and audio effects
