FOREWORD
Did you know there are giants in the land? Every day, as Christians, we are faced with enormous opposition—titans, adversaries, Goliaths—that is born in the sinful hearts of humanity and empowered by spiritual powers. Now more than ever, I am convinced that God is asking every believer to be a diligent prayer warrior—a prophetic intercessor—who can shatter the gates of hell and bring God’s light of renewal and awakening to a dying world.
There are many ways of praying, and Prophetic Intercession captures how believers can listen to the mind and counsel of God. Being able to hear God’s voice is a critical component of prayer. Intercession of this nature helps the Body of Christ to act tactically and in crucial moments with great effectiveness against the kingdom of darkness. How many times has the Lord been gracious in letting us know His timing and intent on a person, place and city. How often have we missed His wisdom in events because we weren’t listening. Prophetically interceding for a loved one, a stranger, a community or a government is a privilege because we gain front-row seats to God’s innermost counsel for humanity.
Prophetic Intercession will take you by the hand and help you to understand the role of prophetic proclamations, acts, music, dancing, shouting, even clapping. There is a connection with all of these prophetic expressions and with intercession. In the same fashion, God spoke to His prophets in the past like Samuel, Elisha and Daniel. God communicates His will and creatively gives up expression of His will to the Church. This prophetic undercurrent is not something to be feared, but greatly welcomed, because the Lord is sharing the depth of His heart with us.
I can encourage every believer to read this wonderful book! My dear friend Barbara Wentroble has faithfully explored the nature of interceding prophetically. She has pointed out that a person doesn’t need to be a prophet to be part of a prophetic anointing in prayer. Prophetic intercession is not confined to a select group; it is for any and all who hunger to act in the midst of His will.
Barbara does not stop there though. She goes the extra mile in emphasizing the importance of such intercession for every ministry! As the gospel spreads to every corner of the world, the Church and various ministerial arms need solid foundations rooted in effective intercession. The lack of prophetic intercession creates a blind side that we cannot afford in church leadership, in one-on-one counseling or in citywide evangelism.
